There are only 12 games left in what has become a very bad, disappointing season. The Rangers currently hold the 6th best draft lottery odds for next year's draft. Anything from 5th to 12th is in play. A sweep by either team in this series would have huge implications in the lottery slot sweepstakes. The Blue Jays have a record one game better than the Rangers, currently.

Eovaldi, Bradford and Rocker are our pitchers for this series.

Eovaldi needs 4 more innings for his option to vest, although it seems very likely that he will test the free agent waters. That brings up the question as to whether or not the Rangersbshould pursue an expensive starting pitcher in free pitcher.

My thinking is they shouldn't do that so they can spend on the bullpen. Although CY seems a little less hesitant to spend on the pen than his mentor did, he still seems to greatly prefer spending on starting pitching. I guess that should be considered a natural tendency for an ex-starting pitxher.

If we do contend next year, I would imagine we will once again be short in the bullpen until a deadline deal or three is made.

But, we have the final 12 games of this season to get through first. The outcome of which could greatly determine if we get close to a can't miss prospect in the first round next year, or if we pick after those kinds of players are gone. Let's hope the pick we get is a lot closer to a Wyatt Langford-type than a Malcolm Moore-type.

The Frisco Roughriders begin their first round postseason series tonight. Santos and Drake will start the first two games.

Well, is he or is he not, a long way from how you felt about taking Langford?

Now, I felt a whole lot better about Dreiling in the second round than I did about Zavala in the second round. How's that for balance? Lol

Ha yes Langford is th biggest Ranger draft coup in recent history. We might though say that of Rocker too

Those are pretty high bars for Moore to get and yeah I wanted us t get the Astro catcher
Oh well

My point was, we will be a lot better off drafting in the first 5 or 6 slots instead of picking between 10 and 12. Not that we will get another Langford, but who knows.

I still remember Tate instead of Bregman. That, Bogar effect.

Yup we should have for a shortstop but maybe then we would not have gotten Seager
Maybe our best FA signing minus some may say Nolan

Bregman has been at 3B mostly with some 2B too. Maybe instead of signing Semien we could have signed a free agent 1B and had

1B Free agent
2B Bregman
3B Jung
SS Seager

Frpm Michael Bier:

No word from Bruce Bochy on if Jack Leiter will get another start.

“Right now, he’s in the bullpen.”

Leiter does not belong in the pen. Bochy just cannot handle young guys when ther are older alternatives around. He is as bad as Wash, or maybe worse.

I sure hope he’s not back next year. If CY had any guts, he would tell Bochy to play the young guys the rest of the season.

I wonder if they will protect Magdaleno from Rule 5.

From Shawn McFarland:

Rosario’s 129-to-13 strikeout-to-walk ratio this season remains mind boggling. A by-the-book breakout season.

He will pitch a lot of 4 inning stints
Bet he is a starter next year

Ok I will bite. So if we got Bregman he starts off at SS then we get Seager
He could easily go to 2B

So that leaves 1 B open if Jung goes to 3B.
So glad we did not sigh Abreu

Who to get at 1B? Good thought
Guerrero is good but he sure strikes out alot but I guess it comes with the turf

No, I was talking about signing a 1B instead of Semien a few years back.

Eovaldi has not been pitching very well lately. Maybe they need to just shut him down.
