Anyone thinking they take a flyer on Maybin? That would surprise me but you never know.

B-Rows just tweated that it "appears" that CK is getting more first team reps. Very interesting.

I assumed that coldpecker would take the Oregon St QB's spot, but apparently not.

It's disappointing to me we didn't get anything out of Gibson. Could have filled a vital PR rotation role if he was legit. Or maybe he wasn't really cut (?)

Several 49ers would welcome Culpepper | 49ers Hot Read

Ahmad Brooks started Friday night’s exhibition opener at left outside linebacker, and he is determined to become a full-time starter rather than a third-down specialist.

“Right now, I’m still trying to grasp the whole defense, but I do feel comfortable with the (starting unit) and I think I should be out there,” said Brooks, who’s entering his sixth season.

Brooks was pleased with how he carried out his assignments against the Saints – he pressured Drew Brees to throw an incomplete third-down pass on their opening series – but says he needs to get better conditioned for possibly taking 70 reps in a game.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/15/s...arbaugh-is-happy-out-of-his-comfort-zone.html

“That was kind of one of the reasons I took this job,” Harbaugh said. “I didn’t want to be in any kind of comfort zone. I didn’t want to be in any kind of guaranteed situation. The fact that it was uncharted waters, try to figure out ways to do things, gave me energy.”

The interesting part of that article is that, pretty much all of the Free Agents are saying that they came to the 49ers because of Harbaugh's enthusiasm. Hopefully that carries over next year if the 49ers try to bring in some of the big names like Fitzgerald or Ngata.

That makes Edwards, Rogers, Whitner, and Goodwin all 49ers because they liked what they heard from Harbaugh.

The starting middle linebackers. NaVorro Bowman blitzed effectively up the middle of the offensive line, and Patrick Willis had the best practice of anyone on the team. At the start, Willis broke up a sure touchdown at the last second from Alex Smith to Braylon Edwards. Throughout the day he blitzed alongside Bowman and got to the quarterback, and at practice’s end he made a spectacular interception. Kaepernick threw a line drive down the middle of the field, and Willis made a leaping interception, returning it 50 yards for a touchdown.

Willis is a monster.

Not to be a debbie downer, but,I have to wonder if Bowman was just effective blitzing up the middle because he was doing it against the 49ers offensive line. I can't imagine they made leaps and bounds with blitz pickup in a few days.
