The guy is terrible.

The Mariners are 2-4 in games he has started in this year (3-11 last year), and those two wins came in games where the Mariners scored 6 and 8 runs respectively.

How much longer until Paxton and Walker get back? Desperation is an understatement.

THANK YOU!

I hated that Mauron the first time I saw him supposedly pitch some time ago. At the time, he couldn't even get out of the FIRST inning.

Another product of the Armstrong era that we cannot seem to lose. Surely someone in AAA is ready to step up and take his place while we wait on the injured pitchers.

I know, it would mean doom for Tacoma, and we don't need that, but "desperate times," you know...

Thats the key. We are stuck until one of them come back. I personally would have rather seen Ramirez get another shot but Lloyd seemed to have it out for him. Not saying he's much better but he is better then Maurer. Hopefully we just have to suffer through 1-2 more starts before Paxton gets back.

Went to the game last night and couldn't agree more. This guy has turned into a total head case....

Liked his stuff, but he just doesn't have it mentally to be a starting pitcher. You'll see flashes of some real potential then he'll absolutely crap the bed.

Maybe he can be worked in as a bullpen guy? Let's give Erasmo another chance. At least for a quick stretch he actually showed that he can pitch at the major league level. I don't think Maurer has ever done that with the exception of maybe like 1 or 2 starts.

He was throwing 95-97 the inning before giving up all big runs, but can't finish anyone off. I said it before on here, but these guys with a live arm should seek out advice from anyone they can on a go-to pitch they aren't currently using. I am watching the Rays game and Odorizzi is pitching who was the top pitching prospect for Rays but was having a hard time finishing earlier n the year so he went to Cobb on the team ad learned a new pitch. He has been better of late and it makes me wonder why I don't hear of M's guys like Ramirez and Maurer not looking for a new pitch that others have had success with.

Brandon Maurer has given up 5 runs to the Angels in 4 innings so far.

Once again, can we please bring in anyone else? Even Erasmo Ramirez couldn't be as bad as Maurer. Brandon Maurer is in there with Carlos Silva and Jeff Weaver as one of the worst starting pitchers the Mariners have had in the past 10 years.

I have noticed that Seattle seems to like the under paty of 500. They just have a problem getting over it for some reason

maybe it's because they're a pile of shit offense?

just guessing.

it's kind of a miracle they've been hanging around .500 at all. even with a decimated pitching staff, they're still pretty good. just a waste of talent.

Despite throwing Maurer and Ramirez out there, the Mariners have managed to have the 2nd lowest ERA in the AL. Might fall after tonight though.

Just think if we spent the money on a needed free agent pitcher this off season, we could actually be over .500 w/o an offense.

And regarding Ramirez:

1h Could happen. But he's 0-3 and 4.94 at Tacoma. @haydenpicks @tdub_72 Maybe give Ramirez another chance?

yep. make what's good a little better, and address no other actual needs

solid mariners thinking

After tonight the Mariners will be 2-5 in games that Maurer has started. 1-5 in games that Ramirez has started, for a total of 3-10 in games started by Ramirez, and Maurer.

Despite the fact that hitting is our greatest need, if the Mariners even had a marginally decent pitcher in those games we could be 6-7 or 7-6 in those games, which would bring our record to 29-24 or 30-23.

Mariners record when Chris Young, Felix Hernandez, Hisashi Iwakuma, Roenis Elias and James Paxton start: 23-17 (.575)
Mariners record when Erasmo Ramirez, Brandon Maurer or Blake Beaven start: 3-10 (.300)

Just a thought.

My bad I didn't realize there were hitters knocking down the door to come here. So if you can't get a hitter then you would be better off doing nothing compared to improving another aspect of the team? So replacing Maurer every 5 days with say a guy like Santana would not have made us better? Interesting. And going into a season with on established pitcher healthy, one established pitcher injured, and six pitchers who have little to no MLB success would be good business? I guess you can keep signing the Wolf's and Baker's of the game coming off of injuries. That worked well.

find me a team in contention in the off-season that was top 3 in pitching, and bottom 3 in offense in their league, which is what the M's already are.

maybe the m's could get to top 2 in pitching with paxton or walker (or both) back in there, but whoa, there's still that bottom 3 offense.

hypotheticals are delightful and fun, though.

Ramirez may not be much better but I feel he gives you a better shot to go 6 innings. I'd even be willing to give a guy like Matt Palmer a shot. I mean Maurer can barely go 4 innings.
