That's a very modest price to pay for a dominant rental reliever. This seems very cheap for Robertson.
"A source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand that the Marlins parted with infielder Marco Vargas, their No. 18 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, and catcher Ronald Hernandez (No. 21)."
I can believe we didn't try to beat that or why we couldn't.That's a very modest price to pay for a dominant rental reliever.
If CY pulls something similar off I'd be thrilled.
Perhaps they're focused on a couple of other players. The report of them wanting to land a SP and a reliever in the same trade sounds like a Texas type of thing to do.I can believe we didn't try to beat that or why we couldn't.
Overall, the Marlins were ranked 18th and the Rangers 7th as far as our minor league systems go. So their 18th and 21st prospects would be even further down in our system. Maybe one in the lower 20s and the other in the mid 20s. Something like Kelly and Acosta. This seems very cheap for Robertson.

Yeah, I don't like that tactic because in doing so they would severely limit their possibilities and thus drive up the final price. I hope Evan is wrong about that.Perhaps they're focused on a couple of other players. The report of them wanting to land a SP and a reliever in the same trade sounds like a Texas type of thing to do.
Which makes me think even more now that CY overpaid for Chapman. That's a very modest price to pay for a dominant rental reliever.

I am not sure that if we are looking for a starter and a relief pitcher why we didn't trump the Angels for Giolito and Lopez. They didn't give up much for two decent rentals. 16 winsVerlander salary surely undermines any prospect haul and he doesn’t have a good playoff history from memory. One win?

They were top 5 prospects for a system ranked in the 20s, but apparently Quero was on the fringe of the top 100I am not sure that if we are looking for a starter and a relief pitcher why we didn't trump the Angels for Giolito and Lopez. I just don’t want to overpay. Especially after all those years of teams lowballing us. The only year it seemed like we got value back recently was the gallo trade.
Not a formal one, no. It is a market though. It is a market where the known commodities are available to be inquired about by any tesm that wants to.It's not an auction
