So, the guy who throws him head first into a divide in the glass, ending his season gets off scott free and he gets 3 for hitting a Penguin. Deserved or not, how this is not sending the message that the NHL favors certain teams in rulings I don't know.

Imo chara not being suspended was the right decision. And if that was the right decision this is, again imo, a fucking awful decision

Very true. But if I am him, I am a little pissed off after getting my face caved in last year.

No youre right. Just watched it, and I can see why he got 3. It is a shame since these are clean hits on stupid players. Amazing how Letang can still come back to get a BS OT goal

Pacioretty is not a Bruin and Shanahan has never played for the Habs so I expected him to get a couple games.

I would like to hear someone ask Letang what he thought of when he looked up and saw Pacioretty coming toward him and still decided to take the shot leaving him in a vulnerable position like that. Was he expecting the rulebook to protect him? Are the rules put in there to protect the players or allow the players to have more free reign on the ice?

I put this in sbb's thread (Stephane Quintal has a new gig)...

A little surprised at the severity of the suspension considering Patches is a first time offender...

I don't understand this one. Again, it's a case of a guy skating down the middle with his head down. If he wants to put himself in a vulnerable position, he assumes the risk of someone coming across and clocking him with a shoulder.

I saw nothing dirty hear.

If anyone wants a chuckle check out Shanahan's explanation for this suspension and then the explanation about not suspending Ryan Malone in the preseason.

Spoiler alert, in one of them the player hit in the head put his self at risk therefore no suspension and in the other one the player who made the hit has to avoid the head no matter how vulnerable a position the player puts himself in.

Its the wheel of justice all over again.

Omg I just watched it. Everything I said in my post is stated by Shanahan yet they somehow throw that out the window come decision time?? wtf

Shanahan's argument is he thinks going for the head was intentional. I don't see how that is possible. Maybe if he was a repeat offender I could side with him, but Shanahan with a rare miss here imo.

I'm sorry... this one they just flat out missed the bus on.

Big hit? yes. Dirty hit? No. Just no. And to think I started to think shanny was at least being half consistant. Shit.

It's blindside. I don't think it deserves 3 games, 1 MAYBE 2, but it's blindside. I realize the inconsistency makes it a frustrating one, but by the actual rule book it's not allowed. And guys, don't think the Pens get preferential treatment here. I mean, Letang was suspended 2 games on a borderline call (probably deserved) then the same hit happened against the Pens the following game and they didn't even bother calling the player that did it. Clearly there are still kinks that need to be worked out. There is progress being made however, that I can agree with. Having it be a group and not one person is helpful.

And man, I'm shocked that Patches would get 3 games as a first time offender. Honestly though, I'm not a fan of that really being a precursor, because if a guy toes the line and doesn't receive a fine/suspension the first time, then the next time he's still not a repeat offender...just odd.

I have no problem with it being a suspension at all but can it really be called blindside when Letang clearly looks at Pacioretty and then continues?

I do not think the Penguins get any preferential treatment in cases like this.

I just do not think there is much (any) consistency in some of the bans and I think Shanahans logic for suspending Pacioretty at least partially goes against what he said when not suspending Malone.

Plus some players get this:
"They were regarding his intent; at what point did he know there was going to be a collision; and whether or not he felt he had the time to avoid the collision. I was satisfied with his answers."

I don't get it. Everything Shanahan has spoken about this year and even in this video, was just thrown out the window. They decided to trust in the wheel of justice once again.

And when I went off about the inconsistency of Der Shanny, I was mocked. MOCKED.

Campbell is still is running things, Shanny is just the infomercial guy. I just KNOW it.
