i do too but when you have established players at the 2 positions he could star at you don't start monkeying with them to find him a spot.
Sure you can. MY was an established player who was moved and so was Soriano. Desmond was established as a SS as well.

Okay I will bite...I do think it takes a special athlete and it does not come easy. .......but Odor does handle the ball well has good speed but the height is the disadvantage at the wall. Seems like his arm is very adequate for LF. His bat is definitely good enough. If odor can handle then I am a big believer in Profar who has had a terrible handling of his career and very tough luck injury wise. I think we saw the worst of him in the second half and if he played regularly at 2nd base we would get better defense and better OBP. I think a permanent position would only help his offensive production as well. Odor has a bright future in this league and you would need a buy in the one Kinsler never gave for this to even have a chance to work but if Odor can do this then it makes the Rangers a better club.

This is the first positive post I have put re this and have not heard anything from club or media re this.
To me this is likely the only reasonable way to salvage Profar without trade

Looks like JD is stockpiling arms in hopes of striking gold on one and having options for spot starts. I really think the shortened DL stint will be utilized a lot into the majors this year and AAA starters will be summoned a lot due to this. Give guys a break especially in the late summer heat

Rangers going to acquire Tyrell Jenkins and Brady Feigi from the braves. No nothing about them.

Henderson Texas' own Tyrell Jenkins. Swing and miss stuff but needs to cut down on the walks at the ML level. Change of scenery may help. LuJack probably wasn't going to amount to much w the Rangers anyway. Maybe one of the 2 players we got for him will

Rangers Acquire Tyrell Jenkins, Brady Feigl From Braves For Luke Jackson

By Jeff Todd | December 8, 2016 at 6:59pm CDT

6:59pm: Texas has announced the deal.

6:11pm: The Rangers and Braves have agreed to a trade that will send lefty Brady Feigl and righty Tyrell Jenkins to the Rangers, according to reports from Tommy Stokke of Fan Rag (via Twitter) and Keith Law of ESPN.com (Twitter link). Righty Luke Jackson is heading to Atlanta, Law adds on Twitter.

It seems fair to characterize this as something of a change-of-scenery swap involving two similarly situated young righties. The 25-year-old Jackson and 24-year-old Jenkins each drew a fair amount of attention as prospects and reached the majors only recently. In both cases, limited exposure to the big leagues has led to questions as to whether (and in what role) they can stick.

Taken with the 45th overall selection in the 2010 draft, Jackson brings a big arm to the table but hasn’t yet found his bearings at the game’s highest level. Over 18 MLB innings in the last two years, he has allowed 17 earned runs on 27 hits and ten walks, while retiring just nine batters via strikeout.

Though he has shown swing-and-miss stuff at all levels of the minors, and delivers a mid-to-upper-nineties fastball, Jackson has also long struggled with control. He has walked 4.6 batters per nine in his minor-league career, and a full-time shift to the pen hasn’t really helped much. In his 46 1/3 innings at Double-A and Triple-A last year, Jackson issued 32 free passes, though he also racked up 59 strikeouts.

For Jenkins, who joined the Atlanta organization as a part of the Jason Heyward-Shelby Miller swap, the results have been good in the upper minors over the last two years. But that has come in spite of a lack of strikeouts and uninspiring peripherals. Last year, for instance, he struck out 5.9 and walked 3.8 batters per nine over 83 2/3 Triple-A innings. He did end with a 2.47 ERA, though, in large part because he limited opposing hitters to just three home runs.

The dinger suppression did not continue when Jenkins hit the majors. He was touched for 11 long balls in his first 52 MLB frames. Over eight starts and six relief appearances in 2016, Jenkins worked to a 5.88 ERA while allowing 33 walks and striking out only 26 hitters.

There’s another piece being chipped in by the Braves, in the form of the 25-year-old Feigl. An undrafted product of Mount Saint Mary’s University, Feigl has been limited to 72 1/3 professional innings — mostly in the lower minors — as he fought through Tommy John surgery. He has shown well when healthy, though, posting a 2.74 ERA with 8.2 K/9 against 2.0 BB/9.

The best way to acquire arms is to take advantage of an opportunity to reboot the team when it is needed. If we fall out if contention in July then we might have the chance at acquiring quality pitching.

i still have to ask why? Other than being desperate to get Profar on the field, why?

Jesus, Odor is a bad 2nd baseman. He's a younger version of Soriano IMO.

Why are you acting like it would be some kind of sin moving him to LF and putting a much steadier pair of hands at 2nd, i.e. Profar?

This accomplishes several things - better INF D, increased value of Profar - and fills a more desirable role for Profar, and does it internally on the cheap as well.

The Seattle Mariners have taken themselves out of the Mark Trumbo sweepstakes, opting to go with their in-house duo of Dan Vogelbach and Danny Valencia for the time being. The club could still look to add a cheaper veteran closer to spring training.

Meanwhile, despite Desmond signing in Colorado yesterday, the Rockies were said to still have interest in Trumbo, especially having already surrendered their first round pick. The team would have to absolutely work out another deal first to facilitate such a trade however, and it would be one that could involve center fielder Charlie Blackmon or left fielder, turned first baseman, Gerardo Parra most likely.

The Rangers added an intriguing outfield bat on a minor league contract as the winter meetings ended Thursday, adding 26-year-old Cesar Puello.

Puello, once considered one of the top prospects in the New York Mets' system, was caught up in the Biogenesis PED scandal of 2013 and served a 50-game suspension. He struggled in 2014 and missed most of the 2015 season while dealing with a stress fracture in his back. Out of minor leauge options, he was released by the Mets in 2015.

He signed with the Yankees and hit .283 with an .812 OPS for Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes (Pa.). He will go to camp on a minor league contract with an invitation to major league spring training.

If we can't make the Reds trade scenario happen, go for broke by trading for Alex Cobb of the Rays (said to be much more available than Archer and Odorizzi) and JD Martinez (who the Tigers are shopping around). Then sign Encarnacion to a 1-year/$20M deal.

Gomez
Choo
Beltre
Encarnacion
Martinez
Lucroy
Odor
Mazara
Andrus

Hamels/Darvish/Cobb/Cashner/Perez

That would at the very LEAST be a playoff team if not a contender.

It would be the same team from last season, except with an upgrade of EE over Moreland and an upgrade of Martinez over Desmond. Plus I like Cashner and Cobb over Holland and Griffin.

Actually, if memory serves, Bobby was respected, even revered while coaching over there.
