Season's a ways off. Let's just see what happens. That's most likely going to have to come through trade. 1st base FA market is the very definition of weak.

do we know if Odor can play in the OF?

I don't understand why he couldn't do it. Desmond and Odubel had no problems with it. Profar seemed to be getting better at it. Most middle infielders can adjust to the OF I would think.

You will have to keep asking why because there is no answer that I can give you that is going to make you happy. I still think Profar has a legitimate chance to be a star in this league.

i do too but when you have established players at the 2 positions he could star at you don't start monkeying with them to find him a spot.

you aren't being one and i agree but somethings like Profar's useage ain't going change much. SD is interested in Alberto so trade him for Travis Jankowski: OF answered, Gomez in LF, Jankowski in CF and Mazara in RF. Choo at DH.

Travis Jankowski is nowhere near everyday player material (at least not for a team that hopes to compete). He's nothing more than a 4th OF. If he were any good, the Padres wouldn't be willing to give him to us straight up for Hanser Alberto.

With that being said, I'd trade Alberto for him in a heartbeat. Alberto is the very definition of worthless and at least Jankowski can hit better than .200 and actually serve a purpose. The fact that any team is willing to give us anything at all for Alberto is nothing short of a miracle.

The market for Edwin Encarnacion and his price tag has shrunk way past his actual talent level and worth. Some team is going to end up with a bargain when all is said and done. It reminds me a lot of the Nelly Cruz situation when he was a free agent after his Rangers stint. Teams just assumed he was either going to break down or regress in production, and the Orioles finally signed him for pennies on the dollar. All he's done since then is mash HR with a very respectable AVG.

I wouldn't sign him long term, but 2-3 years at $20 Million per season for a guy who will hit .270 with 45-50 HR is very reasonable.

JD needs to take a serious look at this. Then they're a legit #3 starter away from being legit.

He prefers SS, but that doesn't mean he will throw a fit at 2B. If we trade him the team that gets him doesn't have to play him at SS either.
