You keep using words like never, but last year was the first year he's ever been on the DL with an arm injury and has missed by my count MAYBE 1 start b/c of an arm injury in his career

Alexi Ogando | Baseball Prospectus

Your count is wrong

Finger injury was blisters and he didn't miss any time by what I'm looking at, maybe he had his start pushed back and thats what the 3 days referred to

My count was wrong by 1 game, he missed 2 games b/c of the biceps thing, the others I don't count as arm injuries (batted ball and blisters)

You said he missed maybe 1 game due to an arm injury. Your bicep is your arm. He missed 19 games due to a bicep injury

I'm tired of arguing. Hopefully they're not BSing about Harrison because I am not confident in the rotation with Yu, Perez, Ogando then .........I would love to add another arm if Harrison isn't going to be productive right away.

I also said before last year, last year I wasn't talking about, I said it seems more like the exception than the rule

typed has instead of had in that sentence, but you should've known what I was saying, seems you were being intentionally dense

I would like them to add another arm too but I think we are already over budget and no one else out there is really all that exciting. I think we have enough internal options and should be ok as long as more injuries don't pile on. It's not ideal but at least everyone's arms should be fresh.

I doubt budget is truly the issue, they'd probably spend on someone worthwhile, problem is those options don't exist; I doubt we wanted anything to do with Jimenez, and by the looks of it Santana either

If we sign Santana, then fine, but I see it as a waste of money long term

Ha ha. Yes I should've known your mistake was an accident. How stupid of me.

Why do you doubt budget is an issue? Do you realize we are already at record payroll numbers? Its pretty common for teams to put a cap on their budget and where we are right now is in the neighborhood of where we have seen this ownership group cap off in the past.

I just think if they truly thought there was a guy out there they thought was worth the cost, in money or prospects, they would try and get him for this year, but they are also smart enough to not just play for this one season, the window is bigger than that

I'm not saying budget is not a factor, but the bigger issue is lack of quality vs cost of return, IMO

By the theme of my posts... yeah, you should've have

B/c me repeatedly saying, "before last year" wasn't a clue or anything

The theme of your posts and your overall argument is Ogando has been relatively healthy in his career. I'm assuming that's what you meant when you said he's missed 1 start due to an arm injury in his career. So at times you were year specific, and others you weren't. Either way I'm not confident in him starting and finishing the year healthy, while making most of his starts in between.

I've got to go play an indoor game. It's been fun as usual JTA

And you're basing that assumption on last year, thats the only point I'm making,

b/c prior to last year (minus the groin injury) he's been relatively healthy, and when we're championing (or not) his ability to start, the groin injury is irrelevant

At this time Ogando is not my main concern. Derek, Harrison and Lewis are. At least Ogando is healthy and ready to go. He may last and he may not but right now he is not the one we need to be so concerned with. Just glad we have him doing the job for some one else.

Harry won't be ready by opening day, maybe that's old news. I interpreted it as missing two starts.
Read it on LSB
I think it was Sullivan reporting... just today

I tend to agree, I would assume there are always budgets concerns...and imo, I don't see the owners pushing it up

certainly don't care if they do

But we have a new bench coach.

:noidea:

*sarcasm*

Hopefully he offers more advice than Jackie Moore did, which usually consisted of, "Great idea skip! Can I have a hug now?"
