I think a pitcher could get hurt in the bullpen just as easy as in the rotation, so put your best arms in the rotation.

Being said, I completely get why some feel Texas would be better served leaving Ogando in the bullpen, at least when all starters are healthy. With Dutch out and Harry having back problems, it's a no brainer that you start Ogando.

Exactly, Holland's injury was the point at which I thought Ogando was best served in the rotation not the bullpen

I think Texas should keep Scheppers and Ross in the bullpen though. Sadly, I've given up the dream of Neftali being a starter.

Seems Texas and Feliz have as well.

I actually though part of this discussion wasn't only about if Ogando should start but also about needing some additional pitching help because we are thin. We are kind of walking a tightrope and not just because some of us may think that Ogando could land on the DL.

Agreed but Ogando came back up b/c some of us don't think Santana is a wise investment even with our injury issues right now

For whatever it's worth, Yahoo Sports is reporting Trout and the Angels are in discussions for a $150 mil, six year deal. This would take him through his 28th BD.

I saw that and I know he is not a FA until 2018 but if he waits he will break the bank. Of course the risk is staying healthy but if he does look out.

IMO this is a very good deal for both parties. Trout gets a fortune, and lifetime security. The Angels lock up a superstar for the next 6 years at a reasonable rate.

But we both know, if Trout continues to play the way he has - or God forbid, even get better - the Angels will want to renegotiate in year 4 of 6, he'll make another king's ransom, except bigger than the $150 m, and the rest will be history.

He had 2011 where he made 29 starts, he didn't break down, he wore down, BIG difference

last year was the only year he was injured while trying to start on a regular basis, and then 2 years ago he made ONE start when he got hurt, and that was his groin, not even his arm

There is a difference, but the end result is the same.

My point was that I would like to add to the rotation because even though Ogando is effective while pitching, he's never shown the ability to stay healthy.

I get that you guys think he can. I hope he does. IMO it's taking a risk that doesn't need to be taken. Prepare for another injury because it's likely to happen.

I liked how you made it seem like he's never had arm and shoulder injuries. He hit the DL 3 times last year with them.

That year he didn't, and thats what I was talking about

Last year is just as likely the exception than the rule at this point

You are right, that year he didn't, it was another injury. You are kind of proving my point. The guy has trouble staying healthy. The fact that you 2 are disputing that is strange.

Trout would be the only person the Angels gave $100 million+ to that was worth the money

You keep using words like never, but last year was the first year he's ever been on the DL with an arm injury and has missed by my count MAYBE 1 start b/c of an arm injury in his career

He didn't have any injury issue in 2011, besides blisters and fatigue at the end of the year,

He missed ZERO time, he just moved from the rotation to the bullpen for the playoffs

I said he's never been able to stay healthy. I didn't say he's never been able to make it through a season without an arm injury.

So now anything is up for grabs? How bout we keep it to relevant injuries? A random groin injury is pretty irrelevant to his ability to stay healthy as far as the way he pitches

In 2011 he was healthy the whole season, he made it without missing a single game
