"Arbitration was afforded to players with three to six years of major-league service time, plus the top 17 percent of players with two to three years — the “super-twos.” Under the new collective bargaining agreement, that will rise to 22 percent. Lincecum was a super-two, giving him four years of eligibility instead of three and adding millions to his bank account.

Buster Posey will be a Super Two after the coming season, assuming he is not demoted to the minors. Madison Bumgarner could be on the bubble."

After reading the article which included the above, I am confused by what it says about Bumgarner. Is he on the bubble about going to the minors or on the bubble about being a Super Two? (I am guilty of assuming that Posey will not be sent to the minors)

The article is saying that Bum is on the bubble of being a Super Two. Truth is, he isn't -- unless he gets hurt, he's a mortal LOCK to be a Super Two.

Anyone wondering who has the highest k/bb ratio in the history of baseball for pitchers with more than 200 innings?

anyone, anyone?

Bueller?

Spanning Multiple Seasons or entire Careers, From 1901 to 2011, (requiring At least 200 Games), sorted by greatest Strikeouts / Base On Balls: Results - Baseball-Reference.com

I hear that guy at #13 wasn't too bad....

For 200 innings in a career, it appears to be Edward Mujica. For 200 innings in a season, it looks like Cliff Lee in 2010 at a little over 10. Curt Schilling was second in 2002.

I am more optimistic as well.

Also states the Giants reportedly offered Tim 5 years exceeding 100 million, but talks have now reached to a 2 year deal.

This news made my (bleak) Monday

The Boss signs with the $ox...1 yr/3MM

Cody Ross agrees with Boston Red Sox, source says - ESPN Boston

I'm thinking I'd have kept him for that....maybe the bridge was burned?

I doubt he burned any bridges (in my humble opinion). I think he probably held out for a 2 - 3 year contract for so long that he missed the Giants boat. Once the market told him what he was worth, it was too late in the game and the Giants already had a full OF.

Whatever the reason, good luck Cody. I sincerely hope you do well even though you play for the vile Red Sox. You are forever immoratalized in SF. Ssory Doc.

Per KNBR, Timmay signed for 2 years $40.5mil!!!

Tim Lincecum and the Giants have reached a verbal agreement to avoid arbitration, according to a team source.

Henry Schulman tweeted that the deal is worth $40.5 million over two years, including $18 million in 2012, $22 million in 2013, and a $500,000 signing bonus. A two-year deal would expire after the 2013 season, when Lincecum is eligible for free agency for the first time in his career.

Lincecum reportedly turned down a five-year offer worth over $100 million, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

After two Cy Young Awards and a World Series Championship in his first four full MLB seasons, Lincecum is coming off what could be considered a down year for him. He went 13-14 with a 2.74 ERA and 220 strikeouts.
