Have fun Heath! It's an awesome time in your life.....soak up every minute of it.

On to baseball though, just some interesting numbers to babble about (source = MLBTradeRumors.com) on Ex-Giants and current Giants paydays:

Thanks, buddy. Will do. Melky avoided arb with a $6 mil, one year deal, too. It seems the Giants are getting more with less this off-season. $2.7 for Andres is ridiculous. Expected, but still ridiculous.

I allowed myself 15 minutes a day to catch up on world happenings. Every morning I would grab the English language newspaper and read it before breakfast. That's where I found out about Rowand. Of course, I put the paper down, proceeded to swim from my back patio to the bar and had a bloody mary and some pancakes, so I survived.

Hope you have fun Heath.

Yes, yes, yes and yes. I'll just skip the paper, and go straight to the booze and pancakes. The world will roll on without me for five days. :)

It will be funny to see what conversations we come up with when we know nothing of current events and spend the whole day together. We could end up like the silent old couples at Marie Calendar's, but my guess is we will just get drunk and talk about music, movies and tattoos, like we usually do.

I took my wife to Cancun for our 10-year anniversary. While we were there, Sabean signed Rowand. Let's just hope lightning does not strike twice.

Jeebus, dude, way to pee in his Cheerios....

V-Mart tore his ACL. Tigers looking for a replacement.

Victor Martinez Likely Out For Season With Torn ACL: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com

Dombrowski On Tigers' DH Options: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com

Okay, I know its a LONG shot, with his poor year last year and his poor second half with them in 2009, but could Huff be an option for them?

We pay all of Huff's salary and throw in the necessary pieces (ideally minor leaguers) and swing a deal for Jacob Turner. Tigers have seemed willing to deal Turner since last year and they may be looking for more ML talent, but hey just a thought.

Sounds like a plan.

All my wife and I did on our honeymoon was talk about stuff like that, too.

Blanco is perfect. He would totally rule as OF depth.

Sincerely,

Jonny Gomes
Ryan Spilborghs
Corey Patterson
Brad Hawpe
Xavier Nady

and the 35-40 other ACTUAL major leaguers still looking for a job.

I think you're severely underrating Blanco. He had a completely acceptable 2010. He's signed to a minor league contract. What's exactly the downside here?

A "completely acceptable" 2010. Nice. That might be promising were it not for the fact that he's 28 years old and spent all of 2011 in the minors hitting .196 with Omaha (KC's Triple-A) and then being traded to Washington, where he hit a robust .203 with their Triple-A club.

That's the kind of guy I want as a 5th OF - in Fresno. There's no possible way that you can convince me that Gregor Blanco is better for the Giants than at least a dozen currently unemployed major-leaguers.

You may be right, he may be done. However, he HAS been average in the majors, so it's not impossible he could be again.

If he's a 5th OF'er, the only things I'm looking for are defense and speed. If he can throw in a professional at bat here and there.....bonus. If he's Andres Torres minus the hitting, I'm happy.

In 2011, wasn't Andres Torres "Andres Torres minus the hitting"?

Zing! Rep.

Cam's point is a good one though. There's got to be enough in the budget to pick up an honest to goodness MLer from that list for not much.

Not sure why, jingo, but I did rep you and your Rep Power didn't increase.
