Mets put a run on the board in the 7th on Joe Panik's PH rbi single....but it's probably too little too late.

10-7.

Onto the 8th.
Diaz is now on the mound.

edit:
he threw a 1-2-3 inning....w/ 2 K's.

Just is case we need something "positive" to cling to...lol...

Cincy beat the Dbacks 4-3, & Milwaukee beat the Cubs 8-5.

Mets down 3 heading to the bottom of the 9th.

Dare I say it?

LGM!!!

Oh well.
Not today, folks.
Conforto grounded out to end it.

Mets lose 10-7...but miraculously are still only 4 GB, with just 20 games left in the reg season.

Gotta prepare and get ready for Arizona...who also lost today.
To call it a crucial series would be a drastic understatement.
They'll be in on Monday to begin a 4 gamer.

In the old cat & mouse game, Mickey became the mouse, and allowed Philly to be the cat in our house.

Callaway's lack of chess skills and foresight ends with him getting out maneuvered, and costing the Mets once again.

3 decisions that changed tenor of Mets' loss

Next:

Mets RHP Jacob deGrom (8-8, 2.76) starts on Monday as New York hosts playoff-contending Arizona to begin a four-game series. RHP Merrill Kelly (10-13, 4.69) goes for the Diamondbacks, who are 1 1/2 games behind the Cubs for the 2nd wildcard spot.

With only 20 games left, the Mets have to dig deep and find a way to go 14-6, or 15-5 to have a realistic shot at that 2nd wild card spot. 13-7 might barely be good enough, but anything less just won't cut it.

There are too many other good teams in close proximity involved in the race, and the margin for error is now much smaller than it was a week ago, and it's shrinking daily.

The old day by day/game by game approach will not be good enough. It's well past that point. Now it has to come down to the at bat by at bat/pitch by pitch/out by out/inning by inning mind set of importance & urgency.

Adhering to & focusing on solid fundamental play and sound decision making will be key to succeeding. If there's any lack or absence of those, they won't get into the postseason.

Mets had 2 on with only 1 out.

After Conforto worked a walk, and Ramos got HBP...Cano then goes after the 1st pitch he sees, ands GIDP.
:L

Terrible plate appearance by him.

That type of AB has been killing this team lately.

I'd much rather see Panik in the lineup against the RHP.

1-0 Mets end of 1.

Ramos leads off the 4th with a double...
And Cano with another piss poor AB here pops it up for an out.

So...after the Dbacks IBB'd Nimmo to get to Rosario...
...He steps up & picks them up w/ a clutch 2 out rbi single.

2-0 Mets after 4.
