Dodger fan here obviously . Bad call and worse timing. But they sent up a guy whos 0-17 against Max. Its not like it's the 12th inning. Sounds like bad coaching by Kapler. One run at home in an elimination game. Thats why they lost.
But hey, they overachieved all year. Great season for the Giants. These teams should have met in th NLCS.

Yeah as other have said obviously a brutal call and tough way to end it.

But also it was an 0-2 count with a guy on 1B. Sure, anything coulda happened. But this was far from a 2-2 pitch with bases juiced or something.

Also, dude is 0-17 against Max. It’s likely the inevitable was expedited by 1 pitch.

Great season for Giants though.

Also, shouldn't Ruf have already gotten a walk before that check swing? The umpire called a strike on a pitch way outside earlier in that at bat. Molly must not have watched the game.

Oh yeah, you are right. It was the first base ump. I should have said the umpiring was bad all game but mainly the home plate ump. He cost the giants a run with the Bryant at bat where he missed ball 4 twice

That’s true. The Dodgers were the better team. They got it done when it counted against both STL and the Giants and the Giants couldn’t. It always seemed that the Dodgers were in control even though the game was close

The swing call was bad. One of the worst swing calls by a 1st/3rd base ump in a long while.

but that isn’t / shouldn’t be the story with that AB.

Why was Flores holding the bat? How can you hang your entire season on Flores against Scherzer? 0-17 lifetime is complete and utter ownage. Sending up a pitcher in that situation would have been a smarter play. Kap really needs to answer why he didn’t PH for Flores there.

Flores has had some very big at bats the entire season. Who would you have put up there in his place?

Awful call with 2-1 count, completely changed the at bat, at least the home plate umpires are consistent….they consistently suck….

Disappointing to say the least but the giants had opportunities and didn’t cash in. The better team won. Still the giants brought a lot of excitement this season

I can’t think of a more boring series than the NLCS coming up. Dodgers against a barely above .500 team in Atlanta. ALCS should be fun

True but the dodger pitching dominated the Giants hitters all day. Struck out 13 guys. There were hitters out there who had zero chance like Longoria, Yastrzemski, Flores and Slater. The outcome was no surprise

He would be the same “infallible” if he started the game.

Actually, you further prove why it was a good strategy. He hittable guy, missed 1 round of the guys capable of hitting him.

Most important, imo, was that he missed at least 1 Posey at bat. Buster Posey has owned him.

Yeah, when I first saw it in real time, it looked borderline. When they showed the replay, it really wasn't very close at all. Good thing for the Dodgers that it's not reviewable.

Hope this makes them rethink their seeding strategy going forward. Absolutely ridiculous that a 107 win team and a 106 win team met in a 5 game series.
