USC is 10 & 6 against the Domers in the BCS era, I know " what have you done for me lately" However, USC has played ND severely handcuffed the past 3 years due to scholarship reduction. Wouldn't you Domers want to hang your hat on beating a full strength team?

They don't teach much in the way of language arts at ND, do they? If they did, you'd know that USC did not cheat.

ND fan excuse making is reaching epic levels!! You guys have become the fat 50 year old former prom queen insisting she's still pretty and popular!!

Additionally, Reggie Bush was on the team for 3 USC wins. How do you explain the other 6?

Nice advantage to ND to get to pick USC's punishment. Had SC been given a fair punishment the last 4 seasons wouldn't have gone so well for ND. I honestly don't understand how any ND fan can be proud of their school's participation in giving out unrepresented penalties.

Ok not really but I would be ashamed of having someone like Missy Conboy associated with my school.

Because we were the ones who started the "lack of institutional control" penalty. That was invented to nail ND after the Kim Dunbar case. It was determined that no one in the athletic department knew what was happening, but they should have known. That's what hit SC. They didn't know Bush's family was getting a house, but they should have known.

The bottom line is that the penalties were unprecedented, because SC's unwillingness to cooperate with the investigation was unprecedented.

No need to explain things to Trojan fans.

Just let them stew in their losses, and make up any excuse possible.

SC was cooperative in the process, they even wrote about how cooperative SC was in the report. Are you claiming that no one in North Carolina should have known that coaches were paying players as agents middle men? Or that no one in Miami knew that boosters were showering players with money for years?

Has nothing to do with nothing, at all. USC cheated to beat ND and many other programs, got caught and punished. Now the punishment is used as an excuse for ND taking back the competive advantage. But had USC not cheated, that competive advantage may have never swung back to USC's favor in the first place.

It's true. Unless of course you consider using an ineligible player cheating...:noidea:

So what competitive advantage did USC gain by having a player who was already there paid to leave with a year of eligibility left? If it was a competitive advantage why had the NCAA completely ignored it when other schools were caught before SC? And why have they dumbed down the penalty so much since that schools with far more coach involvement have received less than half of the penalty. Missy Conboy saw a chance to go after her schools biggest rival and made certain that they were crippled to the point where ND could beat them.

Love the SC vrs ND smack talk. Makes me even happier when SC wins the yearly game and adds to the sadness when they lose.
Questions and observations
Oregon State fan asked a very good question irish fans just skipped over. You're "relevant" according to most your fan base. But when is the last time you won a high profile big boy bowl game game? Try giving an answer.

You ND fans keep saying " yeah but we played with our 3rd-4th string QB". If your QB started like 20 games in the previous three years and was named the starter at the beginning of the season and started all your games and no other QB on the roster beat him out ( you did have at lest a couple of other scholarship QBs on the roster right?). How can you say you played your whole season with your 3rd fourth string QB? It's the coaches fourth year right? If your coach is starting someone who sucks and dones't have someone better on the roster then can you really use it as an excuse? You guys make it sound like your starter broke his leg in the opener and his backup tore up his knee in the second game . That is legit using your third stringer.

Yes you've won three out of four from USC. I hate saying it but it's true. Also true that SC has two 10 win seasons during that span and ND only having one. despite the sanctions and the coaching changes USC actually finished ranked higher this year with three different head coaches. So as much as these past years have sucked for us SC fans ND really hasn't done much at all. sanctions almost done and a full roster coming next year.

First off, good post...you raise some nice topics. But...

...nobody is saying 3 or 4th string QB and yes we were fortunate enough to have a BACKUP with plenty of experience. EG was our starter in 2012, would have been the starter in 2013 but couldn't play...therefore our backup, Change Up Tommy, started every game for the Irish in 2013. ND beat USC this year, with it's back up QB. Beat very good MSU and ASU teams as well...bad losses to pitt and SCum.

USC did finish higher ranked in the year they lost to ND's backup QB (18 vs 19 in the AP), as did ASU (depending on what poll you look at)...but barely, yet we beat them both. When ranking the 18th and 19th best team in the country is pretty much like splitting hairs...would you agree?

People cheat to gain a competive advantage, this is why people cheat...not for shits and giggles. How are you on sanctions if the NCAA completely ignored it...then who would have handed down these sanctions?

"Dumb down the penalty"...don't work nor make decisions for the NCAA so can't speak for them. But sure enough they had a motive to stick it to USC...smh, you are definitely on to something there.

Let me ask you this, why was USC put on sanctions? Couldn't be because they cheated, could it?

Seriously " You mad Bro " But to answer your question, no. It is what it is

No reason for anyone to get upset around here, LOL...everyone makes good points, except for BUSC and his conspiracy theories.

It's true. Unless of course you consider using an ineligible player cheating...:noidea:

1.) USC had no idea that Bush was ineligible.

2.) Cheating is used to gain a competitive advantage. Had the Bush family been given impermissible benefits for Reggie to attend USC or to stay for his senior season, THAT would have been cheating. However, the Bush family was paid so that Reggie would leave early and sign with a particular agent.

What competitive advantage did USC get from Bush leaving early?

USC curbstomping ND started before Reggie Bush and continued after he left. As I pointed out in a previous post, USC has won 9 of the last 12 vs. ND. Reggie Bush was on the team for 3. What is your excuse for the other 6?

Wow, talk about "not bringing a lot to the table". You didn't even come close to answering the question.

Let's try again: What competitive advantage did USC gain from Bush being paid to leave early?
