Homer's will always homer. This is some funny stuff. meeeechegan's last outright national title was 1948. Now get this. Before that their last outright national title was 1902.

Got the info from ncaa.com.
False. Our last outright title was the AP national championship in 1997. Unless you can name another AP national champion that year?

Oh so Nebraska didn't win a national title in '97? You trying to say there wasn't co-champs that year? You're telling me meeeechegan won an OUTRIGHT title in '97? You really are a very special kind of delusional homer.

Did Nebraska win the AP national title in 1997? Can you name another team who did?

Five of your titles are less legit than the one UCF is claiming.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I also like how MLK Jr. said it, judge a team by their success, not by who they associate with or the color of their jerseys.

Glad that we can agree that the Clemson is the true Super Bowl Champions because they have a better record than the Patriots.

This one was taken during the same year. Show this to anyone and football would be far down the list.

Any one that had ever played rugby would have a pretty good idea of what was going on, but would wonder about the weird pants.

Given the popularity of Rugby in the US, I doubt few people would confuse early football with rugby.

Given the popularity of football today, they would be unlikely to confuse it with that either.

How are you defining "track record"?

Florida started 1904, 108 seasons.
  • 9 conference championships
  • 44 bowls (23-21 record)
  • Only 15 seasons with 10+ wins.
  • 3 National Titles
  • Have been ranked #1 for 41 weeks.
  • 3 Heismans (FSU has 3)

Miami started in 1936, 83 seasons
  • 9 conference championships
  • 39 bowls (19-20 record)
  • Only 15 seasons with 10+ wins.
  • 5 National Titles
  • Have been ranked #1 for 68 weeks.
  • 2 Heismans (same as FSU)

Both schools have a longer tenure than FSU, but FSU has performed better.

UF started in 1906. The Buckman Act creating UF wasn’t passed until 1905.

UF owns fsu head to head and always has.

I was going off of sports reference
Florida Gators Football Record By Year | College Football at Sports-Reference.com

Also, head to head doesn't matter so much in this. We are talking all time about everything each program has done. Ohio State is a better all time program than Michigan and Michigan still has an 8 game lead on them in the head to heads. FSU has done more in a shorter period of time for whatever reason. And it isn't an "owning" in the way Florida/Vanderbilt is. UF/FSU is relatively close with only a 9 game lead.

Yeah and if we claim them like Michigan, we could also add 1890, 1902, 1903, 1913, 1914 and 1915. Funny thing is that if we DID count those... Nebraska would have the SAME number of "national titles" that Michigan claims... 11.

Also, realistically, Ohio St and Texas have no business claiming 1970. Both of whom lost their bowl game. Ohio St lost to #12 Stanford 27-17 (making them 9-1). Texas lost to #6 Notre Dame 24-11 (making them 10-1). Mean while Nebraska beat #5 LSU 17-12 (making them 11-0). Only thing of concern on Nebraskas schedule was a tie against a questionable USC team on the road.

You sound foolish ... you know it was a split National Champion in 1997

@Shanemansj13 @Across The Field @Red_Alert @gobigred @ellupo @SlinkyRedfoot

Did you guys know that meeeechegan won an outright Natty in 1997?

Calling all the ohio state people makes you as foolish as @MAIZEandBLUE09 in this regard, it would have been better to call the Nebraska people or @UCFhonors (he probably thinks UCF won it that year).
