This is the only Bay Area focused board I post on so here it is

The only 3 legitimate contenders for this question are:

Bruce Bochy
Bill Walsh
Steve Kerr

(honorable mention John Madden)

All can make excellent cases: Bochy had the least talent advantage/most underdog teams, Walsh won a ton and revolutionized his sport, Kerr was a big reason the 2017 Warriors are arguably the greatest team ever assembled...

I'd rank them

Walsh
Bochy
Kerr

But top 2 are very close

Of all the coaches with at least 2 championships, I would rank them…

1) Walsh - he had stud teams, but he was here as those teams were put together, so that hardly counts as a detractor, imho.

2) Bochy - he won 3 in 5 years with only 1 “clear” HOFer on the roster. Anyone who watched the man manage knew he was playing 4D chess.

3) Kerr - HUGE gap between him and Bochy. He came in while the big-3 were already in place. I understand that the NBA Head Coach is more about managing egos than calling plays, so he certainly deserves credit, but Walsh and Boch are in a different stratosphere.

4) Williams - I am not that familiar with the context around Williams’ tenure, but he left the org in the middle of a 3-peat. I am willing to bump him over Kerr if someone is able to provide the context and make a decent argument.

5) Seifert - he was handed the juggernaught that Walsh et al put together. Granted, he kept the machine rolling, but he was in a no-win situation.

Good addition, but he lost 2 of 3. Walsh was 3-0 as was Bochy (Boch is 4-1 all together). Kerr is 4-2. Dick Williams was 2-0, and George Seifert was 2-0
I was going to chime in with George but he’s not on the same level as the other three.

Al Attles too.
