The NFL has enough going on now that they can't really go after Watson ... IMO. Watson will play somewhere. Right now the NFL doesn't have any moral high ground to stand on. They might try, I am not sure they can pull it off right now.

If I was in the FO I would be concerned about the cost. The Redskins did this prior to the 2012 draft and we all know how that turned out. Certainly Watson is a very good QB but what would a trade like that do to the team over the next few years.

Secondly, I think this team could bring in Brady if he was still playing and fuck it up.

Like the Haynesworth deal, Sanders deal, Schottenheimer deal, Griffin. suing an old lady for not being able to pay for her season ticket ... you get the point. I don't think bringing Watson, Rodgers or Wilson if possible turns this team into a winner. To quote Metallica .... Sad But True

Vikings on line 1 with cousins offer....
With KOC looking like the next HC of the Vikings Cousins could be staying if they can make the contract a bit more team friendly. Cousins has made a shit ton of money, he may be willing to stay for less to play for someone I believe he would like to play for.

Talk about butts in seats. Now sure how Rivera could talk Russ into it and Seattle off of Russ, but I'd bet big money the home opener would be near capacity if not full.

If Watson starts paying lawsuits or is found guilty in civil court, but no criminal charges are ever filed against him. Can the Texans claim Watson breached his contract?
Generally NFL contracts have moral clauses, as do endorsement deals covering "unseemly behaviors," and as such can be terminated for such acts.
That said, cutting Watson for such a breach, immediately allows him to seek and sign elsewhere, without compensation to Houston. Considering what they would lose, there's no way that the Texans make him a free agent.

It depends on the particular language of his contract. Could they? Maybe. Would they? No.

First, From what I know of "talent" contracts (actors, athletes, personalities, etc.), there is usually a moral turpitude clause that lets the employer fire them with cause and avoid having to pay their contract if they get sued or prosecuted for things like sex assault or fraud. NFL contracts might have that in it too, but I don't think it really matters b/c...

Second, a finding of fault in civil court, could make him eligible for suspension by the NFL and the Texans. Any settlements he makes with the women will include nondisclosure agreements, so the women can't say anything else, and provisions stipulating that Watson does not admit to doing anything wrong, so there is no "proof" that he was guilty, making it difficult for the team to say Watson breached his contract.

Third, even if the Texans found that Watson breached his deal, their remedy would be to cut him without owing him any further money and probably lets them recoup the unaccrued bonus money they already paid, or the team or league could suspend him without pay. However, if the TExans cut him, Watson would be snapped up by another team almost overnight. And suspending him without pay will only harden his stance toward the team and could result in a lawsuit and a grievance through the union.

In short, even if the Texans could claim that Watson breached his contract, why would they? Let's suppose they use a settlement or finding of guilt to suspend Watson without paying him. Well, Watson's pay would probably still count against the cap. While the team would save the cash of having to pay him, that is a drop in the bucket for NFL owners. I don't see a real benefit for the Texans to claim that Watson breached his deal. Am i missing something?
Sorry, I didn't see this before posting a reply. I'll just add that cutting him makes him a free agent, without compensation to Houston. Considering what they would lose via trade why would they do that?

i really hope they do. they're horrid.
I'm really glad that you posted this, I had forgotten to post my thoughts on "wokeness" and what it means to those on this board who tend to use it as reason against one thing or the other. I'll post it sometime in the next 24 hours or so. Thanks for mentioning the uniforms!

Russell Wilson is not against coming to Washington per Kevin Sheehan.

Sheehan said he's heard that form multiple sources.

Said Wilson spent part of the weekend "digging for as much information as he can, about Washington."

What I look at is do you want to lose. jD , Payne , sweat , CY. Holcomb Curl , Tmac. Both starting OGS gibby with no one near as talented to replace them because Wilson eats cap space , and guts drafts ?
Wilson can play , but he isn’t taking this team to a super bowl in the next 2 years

So we lose ALL of them by signing Wilson. No cap expert, but that seems a little hyperbolic.

Rodgers could be headed ro the AFC. The Saints are done. The Buccs are probably done. Wilson is the kind of QB with the kind of character you push your chips in on imo.

What is the realistic starting point for a Wilson trade? Two #1s and Payne isn't going to do it.
Three 1st and Payne I would assume.

I'd do it. If Rodgers goes to Denver, you have the best QB in the Conference with a 3rd place schedule.

With the Skins playing the AFC South next year, you would have the best QB on the field for at least 16 of your 17 games assuming Rodgers moves to the AFC.
