MMQB's Albert Breer reports Washington is "preparing to take a big swing at a quarterback" this offseason.

Somewhat stuck in quarterback purgatory right now, Washington is too good to get a high draft pick and not good enough to be a serious contender in the playoffs. After swinging and missing on Matthew Stafford last offseason, Washington is again ready to attack the trade market and try to be players for Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, and possibly Deshaun Watson. Taylor Heinicke is the only quarterback currently under contract for Washington next season.

They have no reasonable choice other than a move like this. Another 7-10 or worse finish and Rivera is on those greasy skids and on his way out. There's no one that they can get in the secondary trade market, (JG, MT et.al) won't get it done and the draft is stocked with guys that aren't or won't be starter ready without a year on the bench.

Jimmy G to the rescue
**** star Jimmy isn't a big move unless one considers lateral moves to be big. Plus from what I read yesterday. Snyder is way too much of a bitch and an even bigger idiot to deal with someone named Shanny. I agree with both Chiller and Stymietee. Its very likely gonna be a stupid move and it reeks of desperation, but what other choice is left.

And they might wanna backtrack on blaming RR for this bullshit. I don't know the contract length RR is signed for, but I think Snyder's triflin ass was fortunate enough to land him in the first place. alsoI don't see how firing RR for shit that is actually Snyder's fault having a positive effect on what will be head coach #10 in the Snyder era if RR or HC #9 get fired over some bullshit he's not responsible for.

I don’t believe that the Texans are going to have another season with Watson sitting on the bench collecting more than twice as much as they paid him last year. ( 10 m. Vs 21 m)

I agree. I think they'll insist on a clarification of Watson's playing status. These lawsuits aren't going away anytime soon, and even though the claims are disturbing, he's not been charged with a single crime for any of it (it's a civil suit for money). With that assumption, will the league let him play in 2022 or not? No way they wander in franchise QB limbo for a 2nd season. Whether he can play or not will determine what the Texans can get in a trade for him.

Spoken like someone who knows what he is talking about. Absolutely not as the Texans will not eat another $21m. Watson is going somewhere, but, he may not play a whole lot of games due to suspension. Could possibly get a year long suspension. Keep in mind, the league is not the law and Watson has not been charged of any crime.

Talk about butts in seats. Now sure how Rivera could talk Russ into it and Seattle off of Russ, but I'd bet big money the home opener would be near capacity if not full.

Agreed with everything you have written here, and without clarity the NFL can't act either. Given that, he was eligible to play this past year. It was his decision to not play for them. I'm pretty sure that any move against him prior to getting any clarity and the league faces legal problems. Bottom line, if everything remains the same, he plays!
