The Cubs have said they will eat all of Sorianos contract but 2 mil... Now before anyone laughs -

.274/.324/.503/.827 with 19HR

D wise 1.000 fielding percentage, and -0.1D WAR, which is league average for left.

Nate plus what to get him?

Edit: The cubs are willing to eat the $36MM owed to him the next two years?

He's team controlled through 2013...and he's a solid bullpen arm. He'd be worth a B prospect or two.

He had a rough April/May, Since June his ERA is 1.71. Definitely a nice target, and probably not as pricey as Perez, and not as sucky as Krod.

My B, 2mil a year.

But would you take him at that? Personally, I would, and since I've seen him hit plenty of jacks in AT&T I'm not worried about the power transferring.

So you're saying the cubs are willing to eat $32MM over the next two years? Or willing to eat $4MM over the next two years?

32MM. So we would be on the hook for 2MM in 13, 2MM in 14, and I guess 2MM this year as well. Not bad, heck its worth it just to ride his hot year, and if he sucks next year, give him the RoRo treatment.

The cubs must want quite a bit in return as they're essentially paying his whole contract. He's still an above average ballplayer and pretty useful. Nate plus what? Hembree?

With lil Bochy's rise, I think Hembree becomes redundant. No, lil B doesn't hit 99, but he hit's 93-95 and can paint like Picasso. It's like Streets control, but with velocity. Not to mention is sub 0.800 WHIP and 5.18 K/BB.

I'd try Panik, Hembree, and Noonan. We're eating 5mil this year, and probably 14 mil next year. They don't get back what they already gave to Houston if they want $$$$ relief.

I heard Bochy was in the high 80's. I think it was Gary Brown who reported that.

Brown may have been smoking crack when he said that. Every report I've evr read says 93-95/96.

I personally saw him pitch while he was with KU here in FL and he was 94-96

If this game does not show the need for a big bat (like Hunter Pence), I don't know what would.

Giants get Scutaro for Culberson. Culberson was looking like no more than an Arias in his career, so a solid move IMO.

Plus it's the end of man-turd.

Boy tonight was a pretty good showing of how thin this lineup gets if guys are out (Wednesday was too). Guys like Pence, Soriano, Cuddyer sound awfully good right now.

Along with man-turn being sent down, looks like Huff will be activated tomorrow sending Christian (likely) down as well. Plus, C3PO is right around the corner after a few rehab games.

So in a matter of a few hours, our bench will become a lot more reliable. Hopefully a bullpen move is to come and maybe, just maybe, a big bat before the dog days roll around. Also, Pablo was listed as a reserve today so it looks like he is getting better.

Per Baggs:

Corresponding move for Scutaro tomorrow. Sabean said he's hopeful of making one or two more depth-type deals.

We're fucked.

LOL. Yep. Although, I hope that's just Sabean playing it close to vest.
