I'm surprised that they have Pence's dWAR at -1.1. I've always been impressed with his range and cannon. He is one of the few visiting right fielders that I have seen play well at The Booth. He is risky out there, but I like that he wants to take away triples' alley and trusts himself to get down the line and play the bounces off the brick well.

Two bullpen arms
Two starting position players

And are likely to get one #1 starter.

Yeah, defensive metrics in the outfield are just not very accurate. UZR is probably the best of the publicly available ones, but I'd pay attention only to extreme values as an indication of defensive ability - and only the average of at least three full season's worth of data.

Not according to what Cleveland said it would take, i.e. a package that included a major leaguer with less than three years service time. That's Belt or Hector.

I always wanted Choo and would have been happy w/ Ichiro

My problem with Pence is he is making $$ 14 mill next year and that might keep us from signing Melky , and that slo pitch softball swing of his worries me

The Phillies got a good deal depending on who the pitcher is. Could it be Runzler? If Nate starts for them, that's going to be a ton of lefties in their lineup.
