Shocker from hell.

I don't see how MSU rises in the division. They can put together rosters that would competitive (easily) in the ACC, but the competition is too murderous in the SECW.

Pretty torn on this honestly.

He revived a dead program and brought WSU football success that it hadnt seen since Mike Price.

At the same time his inability to compete against the instate rival was a huge black mark.

Plus the writing has been on the wall for years about him leaving so it was just a matter of time. The next hire probably wont have the same success but Ill be interesting to see how things transpire.

I get it from MSU's perspective. Leach's offense is good for 6-8 wins per year with minimal talent. I mean, if you can't out recruit the conference, install a gimmick offense and stay bowl eligible 4 out of 5 years.

Exactly right. He's been competitive at places that aren't easy to recruit. Lubbock and Pullman. Not championship level, but competitive.

Scuttlebutt among the talking heads were that MSU was doing just that...one extreme or the other...both in offensive style and personality. Jeff Monken or Mike Leach. Wishbone vs Air Raid. Military Academy vs Off the Wall.

I suggest hiring Paul Petrino. He lives in Pullman already so he wouldn't even need to move. You'll have to hire his son to be OC as part of the deal, but they're two of the brightness minds in college football so the Cougs will be set for at least a decade of greatness.
