I think Michigan will get punished, but not to the extent of what many Ohio fans think. Times have changed. This admission would have gotten you the death penalty years ago (Ohio State AD Gene Smith claims recruits are asking for $5K to visit campuses in NIL era) Now, it doesn't even make most news agencies top stories.

I think the NCAA will get all huffy and puffy, but when it comes to teeth, their punishment won't have much. It will look big, but I think it will be more a financial penalty than anything else (maybe a few scholarships, perhaps some vacated wins and title(s). This specific problem can be fixed easily by wiring up the helmets.

Again, it may be wishful thinking by many Michigan fans, but I think the worst of the punishment will be over by the start of the 2024 season.
