Apparently, Bird could put away some beer. I heard a story that he was in a bar the night before a game and some fans started buying him beers. They figured they'd get him drunk and he'd have a hangover the next day.

He drank every beer they bought him and then dropped 40 something on them the next day.

My favorite story about him is still the all-star break 3-point shooting contest when he walks into the locker room and says "Which one of y'all are finishing 2nd?"

Then he goes out and wins the thing while still wearing his warmup jacket.
