Celtics will be in a huge chemistry mess if this gets voided, though, while Cavs will be no different.
Cav's would lose out on the Brooklyn pick, though, if they void the deal.

... they're almost certainly not going to get a better offer for a 2 year rental on the disgruntled Kyrie.

Oh, I agree.

But, they will still try to use it to fleece you.
Another factor in this:

Let's say Isaiah doesn't need surgery... and there is really no new medical angle to this story. Isaiah is simply nursing an injury like everyone already knew that he was... and while he may not be ready for the start of the regular season, he should be back sometime in the first half of the year.

Wouldn't Cleveland look bad for trying to play games like this in an apparent effort to extort more assets out of Boston, after a deal was agreed to in good faith?

Shouldn't Cleveland be worried about their reputation?

We are talking about Dan Gilbert here.

No. I don't think he is much concerned with his reputation.

Reportedly Boston ownership told Ainge to send Irving back. Wyc Grosbeck is getting involved and supposedly he told Ainge to stand his ground.

If I were Ainge I'd just tell them, "No Deal". Kyrie has a bad knee and Isaiha has a bad hip. You knew it, we knew it. You want Irving back, take him. But don't come back trying to deal him to us a second time, because you'll never get the deal you did this time. You got 24 Hours to make up your mind. ......Bye.

Screw Cleveland.

I am 100% ok with Boston telling the Cav's to go pound sand... even if the deal falls through (which would obviously be a rough situation for Boston).

I agree. Ainge already from my opinion overpaid to get Kyrie, at least compared to what he could've had with Jimmy Butler (comparing what Minny gave up).

I hope the Celtics don't comply. The entertainment value of Kyrie going back to the Cavs is going to be awesome.

Yeah... folks say this would hurt the Celtics (which is true)... but it would also hurt Cleveland. Big time.

They'd be screwed just as bad.

Yep. If necessary, whatever hard feeling there may be on IT's part could probably be smoothed over.

But Kyrie has made it clear that he wants the hell out of Cleveland and away from Lebron. He won't take it nearly as well.

Someone will probably have to stop him from jumping off the edge of the earth. :heh:

If I am Boston i pull back the deal right now.

I approach IT right now with a contract at lets say $25M and 4 years. Tell him he has 24 hours to sign it, and it will include a no trade clause. Then, rest IT for two months.

If he does not sign I still am ok as he will need to prove himself this year to get his next long contract. Now Crowder, thats the wild card.

The Cavs are a folly
