I think the big difference between Isaiah and Kyrie's Defense is physical limitations vs will.

There are things that IT just cannot do, no matter how hard he tries.

Kyrie just doesn't play defense, but he's 6'3" and extremely athletic. His defensive ceiling HAS to be higher(no pun) than Thomas.

Stevens will get the most out of him on both ends of the floor that he can, imo.

I don't disagree with most of this.

I just question if we'll ever see Kyrie give it all on D.

Coach K couldnt do it.

All the CLE coaches could (say what you want, Mike brown can coach Defense)

Brad is the best but I doubt we'll ever see a full out defensive Kyrie. But that's where most of his improvement can come.

I have posted this since day 1

Kyrie is a good athlete- but hes not Wall or Rose or Smart or someone like that. Hes not a big strong powerful guy- not a leaper.

He has limitations athletically. You never see Kyrie slamming a dunk--- because he isnt this big strong athlete.

he is prob the most SKILLED player I have ever seen- but one of the reasons he struggles defensively is hes just not a good enough athlete to stay in front of guys.

that definitely bodes well for his longevity though.

true...Isiah goes somewhere else and someone throws Memphis some more assets....

Id love that though for the Cavs

PG- Conley (Buckeye returns to Ohio)
SG- JR
SF- LeBron
PF- Love
C- Gasol

Bench: Wade, Rose, Korver, Green, Osman,

bring on the tin man - or as he is commonly known. durant. ;)

That is a team that could beat them. No question.

If he's quick enough to blow by them with the ball, he's quick enough to defend, at least serviceably.

Avery Bradley isn't a big strong guy, don't see him slamming many dunks either.

I'm not saying he could ever be Bradley, but I don't buy that he can't stay in front of people better than he does.

totally agree there is an effort component as well--- Kyrie definitely can improve defensively- but hes never going to be a good defender--- he really has no excuse not to be at least decent though.

there's only ONE reason you "hate that narrative", junior...

they're standing directly in LeClown's way...

looking forward to 3-6 in the finals...:sadbron:

Not me, I don't want another Cavs Ws Finals (even though that's what's coming)

But Wiggy has a decent point. You still gotta play the games. Shit happens.

not saying he was wrong, but i AM saying it's like wishing injury on players...

anyone with any decency would want both teams to face off at full strength(or as close to it as both could be)...

I didn't take it as that. I just took it a that's how you may have a chance.

But I think hoping you can catch the warriors as injured and insane as 2016 is just praying. It's not a strategy.

I would've rode out the picks.

Made the IT deal with Dallas I mentioned before.

Gotten Porter and Bamba in 2018.

By 2020/2021 you are probably a contender and have cap room with Horford's deal off the books and Hayward in his last deal as a key role player behind the core of Porter/Bamba/Smith and the two wings as other role players.

The depth would be from all those other firsts Danny stockpiled and the MLE that they can use EVERY YEAR.
Well, we don't know that Dallas would agree to any deal.

The pick doesn't guarantee Porter, and the Lakers pick doesn't guarantee Bamba.

When I said compete with the Warriors, I meant the next 2 years, we don't know what they'll be after that.

The easy answer is, short of getting LeBron straight up for the BKN pick, it wasn't going to happen.

What I see now, is in 3 years, Kyrie in his prime, Hayward still in his, Brown and Tatum developed, and adding another key piece via trade or FA. Get some rim protection. And then when the dust settles on this Warriors run(hopefully), and the Cavs collapse(hopefully) we have a nice legitimate title contender for a few years. I think this Is Danny's vision too. And while there are a lot of ifs, it seems like a solid plan.

Can't assume Kyrie is still here in 3 years.

Simply cannot.
