Except it’s not any different than what was done in the past. That has always been done. Only difference is that minorities are being represented in it. Not sure why that is a bad thing.

I am all about giving respect to new characters who happen to be black, female, gay, Hispanic, Indian (either dot or feather), Asian, whatever. But don’t take the ip from an already established character (making Supes gay or Hulk Asian or Thor a tiny human woman). Create a new character (Captain Marvel, Ms Marvel, Black Panther, Black Widow, etc). Letting one character blaze the trail just to supplant them as king of the hill and then claiming the character didnt take the cheap path to get there is just disingenuous.

When has Zod gotten his own show/book? And when that show/book failed, gotten another show/book? And when THAT show/book failed, gotten ANOTHER show/book, and the fans criticized because the fans just don’t like characters with a name with the first letter “Z” and they are all alpha-phobes?

Hell I think falcon taking over made sense. Using him for the made up issue of white supremacy is what makes it laughable

I was not a fan of the fact they went with Lang over Pym. I was pretty vocal at the time. Pym is a much richer character than Lang.

I agree about Pym.

But that’s not my point. Derivative characters are a norm for all comics. Many got their own comics. So there is nothing new here. The only new thing is that the one taking over is either of a different sex or is a minority.

But the female counterparts have had their own comics for a long time now.

I would’ve been fine with Bucky as well.

Both made sense as a successor in some ways
