The shot of Superman saving a girl from an explosion is the best part of the Trailer.

Too much stuff going on.

Looks ok, and I'm excited to see what Gunn can bring to DC but I think this is destined for disappointment in the box office.

Retreading Superman yet again when everyone is already pretty tired of superhero films. Not to mention DC's record of disappointment & underachieving. Cast looks rather meh. Are they purposely trying to go with a Cavill-lookalike?

This shot made me laugh:

Is James Gunn better than Zack Snyder? ABSO-F*CKIN-LUTELY... But is it enough to save it from underachieving at the box office?

Good points, even if it doesn’t do well in the box office, I’m a big fan of Superman so I’m only concerned with my personal enjoyment.

As far as the casting, it does seem to be unknowns (at least to me), I don’t really think they specifically went for a Cavill lookalike, they went with someone that could look like a version of Superman.

And yeah, lulz at the shot of the guy who cuts his own hair welding a Kyrptonite ring.

Not sure that the Green Lantern ring is made of kryptonite…

Ah yeah, I’m stupid. Lol, to be fair I’m really not super familiar with Green Lantern. I didn’t read his comics or see any of the movies, but yeah I should have known that.

I grew up on DC Comics before I ever sniffed Marvel. Green Lantern was one of my favorites. That clip caught my attention pretty quickly. Made me go to IMDB and see who else is in this thing.

I just want Gunn to get this thing right. Seen way too many DC failures and there are great stories waiting for the right story teller.

He went all in for comic-accurate characters.

Guy Gardner is a dick, a step away from being a villain himself. You look at him, and you don't want to like him. And Fillion can play that perfectly.

With all the damage that has been done to the DC brand, I'm sure they know this will not do great at the box office, but they need to release a movie that's very well received and loved, so it can serve as a foundation for other DC properties.

This goes without saying but any adaptation (TV, film, whatever) of comic books that you held dearly especially as a kid won’t hit the same, but there are definitely bad and good superhero shows/movies.

As far as the more recent Supes stuff, I thought Man of Steel was okay but I didn’t really care for BvS or even the final polished extended version of Zack’s JL.

I’ve never seen Superman & Lois either which I think is the most recent show involving him.

Dark and gritty sucks for anyone but Batman. That was DC's problem. Their overarching theme was depressing, and hard to watch.

It doesn't necessarily suck, but Zach Snyder obviously is not a good storyteller. Still, MoS is the best movie in the failed DCEU, I genuinely love it and with a few small tweaks, it would be actually great.

That was the biggest issue I hear from most people about Man of Steel and beyond.

Just from a movie standpoint they were used to Reeve and I suppose Routh being bubbly dorky Kents’, and most of their action sequences were more on the light-hearted and funny side. I guess Superman Returns was a little darker than Reeve’s stuff but still paled in comparison to what MoS was, almost exclusively dark all around.

Yep. The ride in MCU was always a fun one even with brooding characters. That was missing in the Superman / Justice League films.
