A little OT but there’s a relatively new documentary on Max about Reeve’s life called Super/Man, a lot of the information I already knew but I enjoyed it.
Looks ok, and I'm excited to see what Gunn can bring to DC but I think this is destined for disappointment in the box office.
Retreading Superman yet again when everyone is already pretty tired of superhero films. Not to mention DC's record of disappointment & underachieving. Cast looks rather meh. Are they purposely trying to go with a Cavill-lookalike?
This shot made me laugh:
Is James Gunn better than Zack Snyder? ABSO-F*CKIN-LUTELY... But is it enough to save it from underachieving at the box office?
That was the biggest issue I hear from most people about Man of Steel and beyond.
Just from a movie standpoint they were used to Reeve and I suppose Routh being bubbly dorky Kents’, and most of their action sequences were more on the light-hearted and funny side. I guess Superman Returns was a little darker than Reeve’s stuff but still paled in comparison to what MoS was, almost exclusively dark all around.
I think saying his Clark Kent was too cool is a fair criticism of the movie
Very much agree with this... Gotta be a long-term plan to turn the tide sotospeak. With all the damage that has been done to the DC brand, I'm sure they know this will not do great at the box office, but they need to release a movie that's very well received and loved, so it can serve as a foundation for other DC properties.

I liked him in the role for sure. One thing I will say is physically he was built to play Superman, he’s always been jacked.I am such a fangirl that I even liked the recent Superman movies. Never read a single comic book in my life but the movies were a big deal for me as a kid. Still though, I'll die on the "Cavill is the best Superman" hill. He was perfect. Even if the movies weren't.
Jmo. But one of the biggest problems with the dc movies recently is that they don’t focus enough on the secret identity. Clark Kent is a fun character that I feel like they have ignored since Christopher reeves.

The problem is also they saddle him with Lois instead of just appropriately making her a colleague
i still like the idea of Clark/sups loving lois... it all makes sense...
maybe the problem is that they need to modernize the lois trope... they tried doing that with Amy Adams... but that was just a weird Lois....
Giving the worlds most eligible bachelor the most insufferable broad is terrible
I t think we’ve talked about this somewhere. Probably in this thread even. But he likes her because she personifies his definition of what human is. She is a strong independent woman.

They need to keep it a damsel in distress trope and nothing else
I get that you hate Lois... but lets ignore your hatred for a minute...
it is important for Clark Kent to have a love interest... and it is important for him to have a strong opinion about humanity...
I am all up for them modernizing Lois into a more likable character... not exactly sure, what characteristics she needs to be attracted to clark who glorifies humanity...
Thinking lois is a good thing isn’t a strong opinion about humanity
Especially when he father is so high powered himself
