I think Mingo was included for the shedding of salary. Wouldn't have made sense to add Penny seeing as he is on his rookie contract still. What was Mingo's salary? And any word on what Clowney's new contract with us will look like?

I know man, I was 100 percent expecting Penny and another top level player... Houston must have just been sick of dealing with it... I was thinking 2nd rounder because we have 2, then Penny and someone else... Seahawks just got A LOT better if they stay healthy of course.. Huge upgrade...

Clowney was holding all the chips and refused to go to Miami even though they were offering Houston waaaaaaay more than Seattle. I don't think Clowney will be too popular back in Houston after this. He cost his team a great player (himself) and the first round pick that Miami was offering for basically two back up LB's and our 3rd pick. Good news is that if you are a Texans fan looking for a cheap jersey the Clowney ones should be worth about $5 right now.

Seattle didn’t need to match that deal as long as Clowney has all the leverage. He wanted to go where he wanted to go otherwise he would nix any incoming trades involving him and he clearly wanted to come to Seattle.

No doubt the Dolphins trade offer was better but Clowney didn’t want to go there and all he had to do was not sign the tender.

While this ultimately HAD to be Clowney using leverage, it still shows that those JS is still the man. Hell of a trade. Game changer for one of the weaker slots on the D and at a time with so many question marks in the secondary. That pressure is going to be huge, not to mention the run stopping.

Yea. That was a good deal for Seattle because if Clowney walks in FA, you guys will get that third back in a compensatory no doubt. I guess Pete and company want to load up to stop the LA offense cold.

Ha, we’re used to the Mariners making trades like this, accept were always on the losing end ...

Cannot negotiate a new deal until after the season. He's gotta play this year on the franchise tag 1 year deal.
