There is talk, just rumors of course, of Seattle pursuing Clowney .... Not sure what it would take for us to do that, BUT MAN, imagine adding him to our pass rush .... He's only 26 years old and has LOTS of football left...

So we talking third round pick in value here? 2nd would seem a little steep but Seattle does have a couple of those next year.

Seems like this would be a good move for the right price considering the injury to Collier, the uncertainty with Ziggy, and the Reed suspension. D-line is hurting for guys right now as evidenced by the fact that Mingo has moved to more of pass rushing DE role.

Biggest issue would be what happens next year with his contract being up. Giving up a 3rd for a one year rental isn't great.

Do you have a source? I haven't heard anything about it.

Would love to have him but unsure what the cap situation looks like down the road and if the FO cn fit him in.

I'd assume that the return for Clowney would likely be a 2020 second round pick at minimum.

Personally I'd be in favor of it and I doubt the Seahawks would trade for him unless they planned on giving him a contract extension. It's worth noting that even after locking down Wagner and Wilson, OverTheCap has the Seahawks 2020 Seahawks cap space at $61m which is the 5th most of any other team. Could be a bit risky dedicating so much cap space to 3 players, but I assume the new CBA will likely increase cap space substantially.

For those of you who ask, "Well why didn't we just do that with Frank Clark?" My personal opinion is that Frank Clark is/was overrated. Obviously that's up for debate, but I would take Clowney over Clark every time.

NFL Salary Cap Space | Over The Cap

Even after the Wagner and Wilson contracts, the Seahawks project to have the 5th most cap space in 2020 at $61m. They would be able to fit him in, albeit it could be quite risky dedicating so much money to 3 players.

Not sure as I'd go as far to say that Clark was overrated, but I mostly agree with you here. Clark was overpaid for sure and Clowney is the better overall player.

ALL depends on the trade and amount given up. Clark was overpaid, it netted us a 1st overall (3rd was negligible) if we give up a 2nd for Clowney (Earl Thomas should net a 3rd and Coleman another 4th). If we're talking $10M or so per year, fine with it, but Clowney has shown a pretty big injury history over the years, so I'm not sure I want to break the bank for him.

Our DL is a SERIOUS question mark at the moment though. The Reed suspend was BULLSHIT and just our luck Collier went down.

Risky indeed, but the strength of the Seahawks b2b SB runs was a solid defense. I guess it really depends on what Houston wants if the Hawks want to take a bite at this.

Very lazy work ethic... I don't want to pursue him - especially for what it would cost us... We're not set to win it all this year so we still have another year or so to figure out the DE position...

I'd love it. Hell I be one of the first people buying a Clowney Jeresy.

The price worries me alot but 26 and a speed rusher. It may be steep but I'll use a wrestling term.

The positive is Yokozuna

The negative is Rey Mysterio.

I suppose Frank Clark being overrated is definitely up for debate. Perhaps that wasn't the right word on my behalf. I see him as an above average pass rusher who has hit his ceiling and I see Clowney as a tier above him with more elite measurables and a higher ceiling.

I think the move makes sense if it's a second round pick and the Seahawks decide they want to re-sign him.
