I would have been excited about this a year ago. Now it's just like "whatever". I'm sure they will hire one of Derek Hall's childhood friends that knows nothing about baseball. Why not just hire back AJ Hinch? Front office is such a joke. Our only hope is LaRussa stages a coup.

It's pathetic. It's almost like they feel bad firing him, which is odd in a cut-throat business where he's done nothing but fail.
They need to make a smart GM hire. There should be two qualifications:
1. A resume of SUCCESS. Real success. LaRussa qualifies here. Kevin Towers does not. It has to be a guy that has been a winner somewhere and built a team (or been close to the guy that built the team) into a contender.
2. Somebody not related to Derek Hall, not friends with him or anyone in the FO, and that has no personal feelings with those clowns.
