Honest question, if LeBron does leave are you still rooting for him or are you just a Cavs fan? @gordontrue is on record as a LeBron fan so he will probably switch allegiance.

Maybe if he went to Houston id root for him over GSW but thats about it....i might even root for him in Philly when they play Boston but thats about it

he deserves all the accolades he gets but how he handles stuff sometimes makes it harder to win.

Coaches have a ton of impact on the game in basketball.

Jazz are a great example, they lacked the talent of a bunch of other teams in the playoffs, but they thrived because a coach that builds a system that works with the players.

It's been told that he was one game away from getting fired early in Duncan's career.

Frankly, the only reason we're even discussing Pop now is their tank job and some damn ping pong balls.

Every great NBA coach had teams with great players.

it can be done without him, and honestly that's how i'd prefer it...

'sides, even WITH LeClown we ain't beating the Warriors, so what's the point of selling out for a couple of good seasons...?

I would say it depends on the team.

Stevens is great for the Celtics because he's coaching a young team. A lot of those guys literally could still be in college right now.

For the Cavs, Stevens is not a good fit. You just need someone who is going to defer to LeBron. LeBron is probably smarter than most of the coaches in the NBA.

I think for the really great NBA teams, a guy like Phil Jackson is good. Keep the morale up and just keep the guys playing together.

Either way I would say coach means least in the NBA out of any pro sport.

Going back to Jordan, Dr J, Bird, Magic, and earlier and more recent great players and they've all said the same things about being coached hard and putting all the players in the best position to win. The guys that don't want to be coached hard and put in the best position to win are almost never great players. They might have good stats and look good when playing, but they don't win rings.

If not, he's close. The job he's done on a Celtics team this yr. that's been faced with multiple injuries has been fantastic.

The elites IMO are Pop, Stevens, Carlisle, maybe Spoelstra. Kerr needs to show what he can do without an all-time loaded team. Need a bit more resume from Snyder but he's probably there too.
