Is now the time to trade Metcalf?

If Pete was truly the player whisperer, then now is probably the best time to trade Metcalf and get the maximum return in value for him.

I wouldnt trade him for less than 2 firsts....

every mock I have seen has the chargers taking TE, maybe they would be dumb enough to give up the #5 pick for metcalf and we can package that to trade into #1 with chicago. if they are really looking to trade out of it.

Ask the Titans about trading away elite level wide receivers.
to be fair, they traded a WR for a WR which is kind of dumb.

the only way trading metcalf makes any sense is if we are doing it to get one of the top two QBs in this class.

Elite level wr's don't catch anything when suspended. The real question is whether or not the guy is toxic and Pete was able to hide it and manage it. Antonio Brown was elite level.

This draft class is loaded with WRs, so IDK about this being the best time to try to trade a WR.

Pete was great at a lot of things. Keeping emotional players in check is not one of them.

If someone offers a haul, then I wouldn't have an issue with it.

I don't think you consider it unless it's at least a top 10 pick and then another 1st or a high 2nd though.

Would you trade Metcalf + our 1st rounder for the #1 pick?

Sorry, but nobody is giving up 2 1sts for DK. Dude has never actually lived up to his potential. If he was putting up the production AJ Brown was he'd have more demand, but he's yet to do that.

I don't think it's the wrong time to trade him if we get a decent return, but it's not gonna be that.

No sir.

Like I said, a first plus another first or early 2nd is the only way I'd consider it. Unlikely that happens though.

Dont mean to interfere here.......

Bears wont drop down to the 19th pick.........youre better off making a play for Fields.
Bears also have the 9th pick,Odunze or Nabers could still be there.

Has a WR ever been traded for two firsts? Metcalf is a good player but there are probably 10 WRs out there better than he is (at least, statistically) who are less inclined to blow their top and get a penalty.

We also need to take into account that Lockett is going to be 32 next year and is coming off of his least productive season in 6 years. This could just be a fluke exasperated by injury, or, it could also be the beginning of career decline. So, I think we need to give Smith-Njigba and Bobo another year of experience before we move Metcalf.

Having said that, Smith-Njigba looks like he could be an annual 1000-yard WR if given the targets.

One of the things about Pete was he more or less let players do what they wanted. That helped him in some instances and didn't in others. DK's behavior on the field did improve as the season went on, but I think someone like Mike Vrabel might be the firmer hand we need here to keep the lid on things. Or.... the pressure could build and it blows up like Antonio Brown post-Pitt. But we were clearly over DK's bitch fits when Pete was here, so I'm all for another approach. If that doesn't work, move on from the headcases.

nobody would give up two firsts and i wouldnt accept less.

unless it helps us get one of the top two QBs it makes no sense to trade him.

Agreed. Teams don't win Super Bowls by trading away their young top talent.
