Switch-hitting Cal Raleigh, the Mariners’ No. 8 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is 6-for-25 with a homer and five RBIs in six games at Tacoma, and while he would seem like a strong fit to shake things up, a source indicated that he’s a little further off. But, barring health issues, Raleigh will make his MLB debut at some point in 2021.

That was my first comment at home when I saw the lineup. Why the hell do you put that POS behind the plate with your top arm prospect? Then you let him bat in the 9th? Oh well.

People may not like it, but Bull Durham had it right where you need a grizzled veteran catcher to catch young pitchers. Murphy isn’t some vet by any means but Torrens had literally just made a play a few days before that gets you benched in youth coach pitch.
