Burger is just not the answer. He is too much like so many who have come before him on our team. Strikeout machine with low OBP. To make things worse, his fielding percentage is terrible and his range factor is average at best. Rojas' fielding percentage is 3rd in the majors at 3rd base so our defense would take a huge hit at third with Burger playing there. Also, Burger only plays half of his games at third and the other half at first. Since he and Locklear both bat right-handed, he wouldn't work as a platoon partner with Locklear at first base. He doesn't fit.Burger hitting 230..
Not so bad ...
191.at bats 50 strike outs.
Is .

Any star..3b..would cost..
Well...a king's ransom .
I think it is safe to feel comfortable about the division cause Houston is out of it unless they made 2 huge trades for pitching and not really sure what is wrong with Texas. They got some injuries but that lineup is still way better than what they shown. The only thing IMO that should cause discomfort is if one of the pitchers goes down.8.5 game lead. Biggest lead in the division for the M's since 2001.
How long until we start to feel more comfortable with this team?

One last note: if you put any value in WAR:
josh Rojas oWAR 1.2, dWAR 0.7 totalWAR +1.9
Jake Burger oWAR -0.4, dWAR -0.3 totalWAR -0.7
Houston is going to be aggressive because they always are. I just don't know if there is enough quality pitching available to make an impact for them.I think it is safe to feel comfortable about the division cause Houston is out of it unless they made 2 huge trades for pitching and not really sure what is wrong with Texas. It is a really weird feeling knowing that M’s could lose the rest of the games in June and 99% chance they still would lead the division.
There's more than one aspect to feeling comfortable. Not just the AL west race, but do they have enough hitting to make a real threat in the playoffs should they reach there.I think it is safe to feel comfortable about the division cause Houston is out of it unless they made 2 huge trades for pitching and not really sure what is wrong with Texas. Well I was saying comfortable with just the division. I don’t think anyone should be anything other than worried about having a deep playoff run with what they currently have. They’ve gone up against the Orioles and Yankees and IMO those clubs are a notch above the Mariners. They need to somehow pray that Polanco returns to his career numbers and somehow get two more outfield bats. There's more than one aspect to feeling comfortable. The defense has gotten better so that's a plus. They have been working with Rojas at 3rd and boy does that appear to be paying off. Haniger looks like he's running down more fly balls than he was in May.
Not as many baserunning blunders either.
I'm not as worried about the pen as others are with Brash returning at some point.
It really does boil down to hitting. Will they have enough chops at the plate to score in the post season?
I'd still like at least one big pickup before the deadline to feel better myself.
But problem with Houston is they have a really bad farm system on paper so they’d have to take on a bad contract to get a pitcher. If that’s the avenue then Houston matches up with the White Sox and the Mets. But I have no idea where they are at in terms of the CBT.Houston is going to be aggressive because they always are. I just don't know if there is enough quality pitching available to make an impact for them.
