How long does Philly stick with Wentz before going back to Foles?

You are obviously new to this thread. For your information, the eagles don’t have cap issues (some eagles fans have solved them right here) and Howie the GM is a magician with the numbers!!

Hahaha

As most Eagles fans have pointed out - and so actually has history so far - Howie Roseman has shown himself to be a wizard with the cap, and on multiple occasions has steered the Eagles away from the cap hell so many 'experts' predicted.

Most reasonable Eagles fans are saying that managing the cap will probably be difficult, but based on the contracts on the team, upcoming contracts and Roseman's track record with fitting everything under the cap without destroying the teams future (unlike for instance the Cowboys) and without cheating (like is arguably happening with Brady and the Pats) in the past, gave him more than a reasonable chance to get things done. Or at least make things not as bad as most Eagles detractors suggest.

How are the cowboys in any bad shape with the cap? When has Dallas ever been u able to get a player or keep a player we want?

Just look at what they have paid to players no longer on the team for the last few seasons, for one. And why field the mediocre (at best) receivers over the past few seasons (before this season's Cooper trade). All - in part - a direct result of cap mismanagement. Of course it does not come close to the disaster Washington has regularly, but still.

As they are, they might be OK with the cap (with some of - for instance - Romo's money coming of the books) now. That was not the case a few seasons ago.

A penalty like that - against the Eagles - was a major part of the outcome in their loss against Minnesota. And frankly, the one against Bennett was even worse than this BS call against Gregory (as Bennett hit Cousins in the thigh, then slid down, while Gregory never came above the knee.

Basically a make-up call, I would guess, for the BS call just a play before.

And to suggest that the impact of the bad calls in this game was even close to being equal is an idiot.

- Turnover in the Red Zone negated (could have seen the Eagles up 3-0 or 7-0 (the 3-0 more likely).
- The phantom OPI on Goedert (especially egregious considering they allowed Cooper to ragg-doll Jones), not only negating a TD, but which probably cost the Eagles a possession at the very end of the game.

Nothing called against the Cowboys came close to having a similar impact on the game as those two calls did.

Someone in an other article made the comparison with a couple of NBA refs, notorious for favouring one team with high impact calls, but then giving plenty of lesser make-up calls on the other side to make it show up 'even' on the stat sheet in the end.

And for the record, the Eagles offense was atrocious for most of the game.
for the record I am not saying blown calls were even. I am saying refs has sucked for all teams throughout the year. It is never even on blown calls on any game. Well usually.

Carrying Foles this year was a major blunder given that they were blindly committed to Wentz. First, they could have traded him for future young talent and second that was a big cap hit for a guy to hold a clip board.

Howie the genius fucked that one up.

I fully agree with you that the officiating this year is atrocious, And IMHO it is bad enough that it IS deciding games. I would almost argue it is time for a class action lawsuit against the NFL, since it is categorically refusing to get officiating fixed.

Mwoah... I can see where you are coming from, I disagree with your assessment overall. There are bigger issues with Roseman this season than Foles' contract.

Over estimating the talent on this team was a big one. Also, they clearly haven’t accounted for losing those assistant coaches.

To some extent true.

That said, two of the big ones:

- Wentz not being fully back and making mistakes he did not make last season.

- Injuries in a way that are all but impossible to overcome, especially when looking at the loss of players in Free Agency:

QB: Wentz not being 100% mentally and physically.
WR: Losing Mike Wallace, Mack Hollins, and Alshon Jeffery being out for much of the season (meaning playing Agholor OOP). So that means playing a 2/3 WR and the rest 4th WR and down (and arguably the Eagles were light on WR to begin with)
RB: Playing for much of the season with a 4th WR as starter (with Ajayi, Sproles and Clement being out/playing seriously injured for much of the season).

DE: Losing Barnett to injury, compromising our rotation, especially with DT being weak.
DT: Losing our 2nd DT in Jenkins for most of the season.
DB: Losing McLeod early in the season at Safety (meaning the defensive scheme being hampered), and subsequently losing one DB/CB after another to injury, or having them playing seriously injured. Currently we are fielding our 3rd safety (were down to 4th), and our 4th DB as a starter.

They did not. However, they also were not virtually eliminated from the playoffs either.
