Whoever is the starting QB is a 2 game losing streak from being swapped out.

Not really. There was no reason to pick up his option. He plays well this year he gets a big contract the next.

Yeah...that is the point. If you actually have faith in him you RUN to turn in that option because the alternative is having to pay him much more as a free agent.

But we don't have faith in him, just hope. His FA price will be about the same as the 5th year tag. So why pick it up? He plays well we sign him, he plays bad we are drafting a QB.

On third and 5+ he was top 5. I can cherry pick all day. lol. Really I have not gave up. His accuracy problems are kinda over blown. What about all the beautiful passes dropped? Look no one stood a chance here last year. We had many many problems with the offense and coaching. I give Trubisky and Montgomery a incomplete for last year. Trubisky has the talents and more drive now with Foles breathing on him. But the Bears need to fix the whole of the offense, it was the worst ran offense in the history of the NFL. I know putrid offense too. Coaching and scheme were the real problems with the oline. Neither QB will stand a chance if we don't fix the real problems anyway.

so get him an pro bowl O line, a great RB, and he'll do just fine

You could make that argument for every middling starter in the NFL

So is this true?
Was he 33rd in passing yards/Gm out of 32 teams?

They traded for Foles so he starts week 1. Declining that 5th yr option on the QB you moved up to draft spells doom too me.

so about that line excuse...........

"Trubisky faced pressure on 32% of his dropbacks, according to PFF. Of quarterbacks who had over half of their teams pass attempts in 2019, 27 quarterbacks, Trubisky ranks 18th in percent of dropbacks where he faced pressure. Only nine quarterbacks saw less pressure. He ranks 15th in the NFL in getting hit as he throws as well. He also ranks fourth-best at getting balls batted down by defenders."

but wait it is the line!!!

"However, when it comes to taking sacks, Trubisky ranks fifth. That is where the narrative comes from. The issue is less about the offensive line and more about Trubisky under pressure.

Trubisky ranks sixth in pressure rate minus sack rate. Only Kyle Allen, Derek Carr, Andy Dalton, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Kyler Murray get sacked at a higher rate when they face pressure. The issue is not that the line is allowing pressure; it is that when Trubisky faces pressure, he takes sacks more than an average quarterback. The average time of sack for Trubisky is 4.04 seconds. This is the fourth-highest rate in the NFL. He can scramble and keep plays alive, but generally, he is taking sacks out of structure when the play breaks down, not because his offensive line got beat immediately.

These numbers are backed up by having the worst completion rate in the NFL under pressure, and the worst passer rating as well. This is not affected by throwaways either; he ranks 23rd out of those 27 in throwing the ball out of bounds to live another down. While others are throwing the ball away, to avoid pressure, he is taking sacks to make his line look worse. He does not function well under pressure, which overrates how often he actually was under pressure.

I don't think it's out of the question that Foles is the starting QB by the time camp is over.

There's a good chance the Bears could start off 1-4. If that happens I think Foles gets the start against Carolina.
