Really only if NJ winds up picking an obviously worse player. NYR have an incredibly easy first-round draft job here in just taking whoever NJ passes on.

Loading up a highlight package where he's skating against guys who had to use holiday time from their plumbing jobs back in Marseille to play in this tournament would have that effect, wouldn't it.

I don't put much stock into single tournaments to evaluate talent regardless but if I did I'd probably say it's a little concerning that in 4 WJC games and 7 WC games Hughes didn't register a single goal while Kakko had 2 in the former and 6 in the latter.

Im not down with evaluating talent based on a couple tournaments ... otherwise you end up with olli juolevi

Kakko played v men all year so the worlds were more of a step up hughes but he finished strong where as kakko scored in the first 3 games and then went silent the rest of the way ... including going pointless in a game v taxi cab drivers from marseille
