If the Leafs can do anything at all to get a second top ten pick and draft one of the defencemen I'll be happy as a pig in shit.

Unfortunately, given how low their pick from the Pens will be my guess is they're far likelier to trade down.

It's all good. 3 out of the first 31 prospects. Unless the second coming of Bobby Orr is hiding out there somewhere, they will get a solid D prospect without needing to trade.

Higher's always better, especially when there are 3 defensive prospects who might be available from 8-15 that have 1D potential.

Greg Buttons was on the cesspool yesterday talking up Logan Brown again saying he will go earlier than most people think

He pretty much called Bozo Benning picking Brock Boeser last year predraft so pencil in Logan Brown with the #5 pick :ohwell:

Maybe Weisbrod/Benning will send the #5 pick to Calgary for Mark Jankowski?

Last years draft was full of surprises. So I won't be surprised if there are players that rise & fall in the draft.

Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like Tyson Jost has fluctuated more than just about any other prospect. I've seen him as high as 8 and as low as 16. Clayton Keller seems to be the front runner for the Devils based on the speculation/everything I've read (which means absolutely nothing).

tougher to get comparables because he is in the BCHL instead of the W, O or Q
few scouts have seen him, and he is for the most part playing against weaker competition than major junior

True. Although the BCHL is getting more and more attention and Jost caught everyone's eye by tearing the U18 a new cornhole. I think some team likes him enough for him to go top 10.

Just thought I'd add Greg Buttons (I like that almost as much as Gubberson) latest rankings:

Craig's List: Matthews No. 1 because position matters

Good to see a couple royals on there. However.....

The only reason that Jack Walker is on their is because Spokane and Kelnowa defense focused hard on shutting down Phillips and Soy so hard that thete was no one watching Walker. He lit it up in the playoffs because of this

Bobby Mac's final draft rankings is airing on TSN - Rankings and comments:

  1. Matthews - 8/10 scouts have him #1. Franchise center
  2. Laine - best goal scoring shooter coming out of the draft since Ovechkin, there are teams out there that believe Laine will be best player to come out of the draft
  3. Puljuljarvi - no lower than #3 of the 10 scouts he surveyed. speed among the fastest in draft. can make a difference physically and has the speed and skill
  4. Tkachuk - plays similar to his Dad. from the circle to the goal line no one does it better than Tkachuk.
  5. Dubois - little bit bigger and little bit faster than Tkachuk... some think he is as good or better than Tkachuk. tremendous skating ability.
  6. Juolevi - best all around defenceman
  7. Nylander - elite level skill almost 2nd to none
  8. Keller
  9. Sergachev - elite level skating. bomb from the point. calm composed game
  10. Brown -

For those interested, McKenzie did a long Twitter Q&A re: the draft and other things last night. Check his timeline if you're so inclined. Very enjoyable.

watched it and filling in the blanks

on Keller: he compared him to Patrick Kane ... 5foot9 dynamo
on Brown: said there was bad Brown to start the season (slow) and good Brown to end the season (fast) ... they then showed a clip of brown scoring a goal on a wrister in the slot that had a quick release and the celebration looked like it was in slow motion as he skated to the boards lol
