You claim here that if a player is waived during A season (any season), then he can't be signed and traded IN THE NEXT SEASON (or any other season)... that's how dumb you prove to be... Understand?

When a player's contract expires then team the player who had that player has what's called Bird rights. A cap hold is placed on the player on that team. While the cap hold remains in effect, if he signs with that team then the team is able to go over the cap to resign him. If they renounce the cap hold, then they forfeit their Bird rights.

If another team signs him they must sign him under the cap since they do not have Bird rights. Furthermore, they do not actually have rights to him until the new season starts on July 6th. They have no rights to that player prior to July 6th.

There is no mechanism that allows a team to sign and trade a FA agent until December 15th. That moratorium is in place precisely to prevent teams from doing EXACTLY what you are proposing.

So while it is technically possible that the Warriors could redo the trade with the Nets to send Russell to some other team it would almost certainly require a complete reworking of the deal because the Nets would need to get involved because they retain Russell's rights until July 6th.

Now I have no illusion that you will accept any of this. You will almost certainly respond with a lot of histrionics and teeth gnashing. But it won't change any of what I just said.

This isn't some arcane part of the CBA. It is a basic component that virtually everyone understands.
