The average player in the 60s would have no shot at playing in the NBA today if they brought their 60s skill set with them. None. The transcendant players would surely be good, but impossible to say how good. There are some HOF caliber players from that era that would not make a team today. It is night and day in terms of talent.
Okay fair enough, I can respect your opinion.

Whoever thought the Cleveland team we just watched in these Finals and the 2015 Finals was "stacked", should see a therapist right away

When Iman Shumpert, Richard Jefferson, Kyle Korver, Deron Williams, JR Smith and Tristan Thompson are seeing major minutes on any team, the last word that should be used to describe that roster is "stacked".........Thats without even mentioning the 2015 Finals team where Matt Dellavadova was literally the teams 2nd best scorer
Didn't the Cavs team we just watched, have three all-stars on their roster?

Technically, maybe....But Love doesnt play on an All Star level..........Teams like Toronto/Washington/New Orleans, probably more, have multiple all stars, but not many of us would call those teams "Stacked"

Nevertheless the Cavs had three all stars on this year's finals team.

Well, it kinda enters us into a different conversation, like if all 3 of them not just one of them, played like All Stars the entire finals, there may have been a different result....And in the theme of the conversation, I dont really blame Lebron for Love not showing up the entire series, or Irving being absent the first couple games

Yeah good point, but that's the way the finals turned out. Love and Irving were all stars and the Warriors shut them down.

I get a bad feeling that 5, 6, 7 years from now, we will look back and realize there is no shame in losing to this GS team

Good comment, but you and I have different opinions. I have been watching Pro basketball since the mid 50's. The Big "O" is the best "all around player", I have seen. JMHO.
Oscar definitely gets my vote. The guy averaged a triple double for 5 complete seasons. And that was back when you had to make a real pass to get an assist. Kareem has said Oscar is the best ever.

Wilt. 20,000 women and still had time, not to mention the legs, to dominate.

Jordan's got it where it counts most. Most impressive Playoff numbers ever a perfect 6-0 in Finals at the end of the day.

Thats what separate's Jordan from Kareem (superior playoff performances and numbers). And Jordan from guys like Lebron and others. A perfect 6-0 in Finals. Unbeatable/Undefeated on the big stage.

Then you factor in his defense, mental toughness, Career 30ppg Regular season numbers.

You can't compare anyone. Russell has more rings, doesn't have much in way of stats. Wilt doesn't have the titles. Lebron.. ahem... 3-5 when it mattered most, Kareem without the playoff post season number lead dog deals. Kobe (2nd fiddle for 3 of his 5 titles). Shaq/Duncan domination but not enough titles or FMVPs.

In terms of overall. Kareem is probably the closest but again, when we through the post season in??? Nope.... Michael BURIES Kareem

Shaq/Duncan had a shot at one time. Close but not quite.

Lebron never even compared to begin with.

When you have Love/Lebron/IRving on the same team you ARE stacked. Sorry to tell you.. Theres just no way around that.

And Warriors are stacked too.. But there is still NO EXCUSE for the Cavs to go out in 5 games.

at the end of the day, Warriors don't have much (if any) more talent than Cleveland does. In fact probably less. KD/Curry are future HOFers. But the Cavs big 3 have THREE future HOF'ers.

The Warriors have so much more talent than Cleveland, its absolutely insane..........Shaun Livingston/Andre Igoudala would have clearly been the 3rd best players on the Cleveland roster in that series, and they were somewhere in the 6th/7th range depth chart on the Warriors

I think most hall of famers have mental toughness. Also Jordan didn't play against great teams in the 90s. 6-0 in the 80's would have been amazing. Does the perfect super bowl record for Joe Montana at 4-0 mean he is better than Brady? Jordan was so dominant that they outlawed the dunk. o wait......

Well, to be fair that list is cherry picked to favor Kareem. There is a reason they went with totals and not per game averages. Also, anything Kareem did in college should be irrelevant to the conversation. We are discussing NBA history.
Kareem is still better in my opinion.

It's flawed logic to focus largely on finals record, because it treats a finals loss as worse than losing in an earlier round. Weighing finals wins heavily is fine, but penalizing a player for a finals loss doesn't make sense when you're not penalizing them if they didn't make the finals.

Better to make the finals and lose than not make the finals at all....your logic that focuses heavily on finals record says the reverse..
