The only player in the conversation that controls is own destiny is Lebron. MJ is already superior to the other top 5 greats possibly in the conversation including Magic. Lebron is the only player that could possibly challenge MJ bc he has all the abilities MJ did as well as dominating the league. Magic and Kareem will never be GOAT but will always be a step below MJ IMO...2-3 right now. Lebron is sitting at 4 and controls his own destiny, he probably needs another 2 rings to be in a legit convo with MJ.

I have Lebron 3rd behind Jordan and Magic. He could rise to #1 over the next few seasons. He won't fall. Rings are given way too much weight when evaluating individuals in a team sport. jmo.

You can't ignore a guy that won ELEVEN titles Im sorry. Even if the league was "meh" at the time.

All time is still "all time". Unless you want to separate eras and years and decades

... And its not like the NBA is some "golden era" today either. All the talent on 2 teams, a good Spurs team (who was injured this year) and a host of talentless BUM teams with no chance to ever win

The Ship has sailed on Lebron. 3-5 NBA finals record (with only 1 finals appearance in which he played on a bad team) and hes going on 33 years old and 15-16 seasons of wear and tear already. Lebron is bound for a heavy decline soon.

Duncan needs to be up there somewhere as dog Shaq. More FMVP and titles than Lebron.

Lebron/Kobe is arguable right now. Lebron has better regular season accolades but Kobe is 5-2 in NBA finals while Lebron is 3-5. AND played in a much tougher conference his entire career. No contest.

Pistol Pete Maravich...

The guy was a great ball handler and superb shooter. If he hadn't torn up his knee he'd have owned all the scoring records. This is just my humble opinion.

Haters gonna hate.

Tell me, in the history of the league, how many other players have made a Finals appearance with a roster as weak as The '07 Cavs (at least when compared to the rest of the league).

The correct answer is 0.

As for Russell. Have you ever watched a game from the 60s? 90% of the players couldn't make an NBA roster today. Just imagine Bob Cousy trying to play against any of the good PGs today. Talent difference is night and day.

Lebron lost what 2 years in a row to the LOWER SEED In the playoffs? How many 50-60 win teams did Lebron face in the playoffs?

And 2007 Cavs need to be compared to the terrible East teams. So a finals appearance with those Cavs isn't exactly "bad" when the rest of the conference is bad too. ROFLMAO.

Regardless with Russell. 11 titles can't be overlooked even if the league was weak at the time

Also I think its kind of stupid for people to be mentioning Lebron and not mention Duncan and Shaq who did MORE as lead dogs in the finals and own more titles .

Though I have already said I give leeway to Lebron in 2007. What about the other SEVEN finals appearances? He played on stacked teams each of those finals appearance and still has another 4 losses

So If we gonna give Lebron props for 2007, he needs to take a hit the other 4 times he loss on GOOD TEAMS in the finals

MJ for me.

Kareem should def be an option on the poll, though.

I put someone else just because I think Kareem belongs on the list.

Yes definitely Kareem belongs on that list and so does Magic and Kobe. How about the Big "O", and Bill Russell. IMO, no one under 60 should be voting on this subject.
