I can't see Pete leaving the Seahawks a mess if his next move is into the FO. Even if he fully retires I still don't see it and that's why this draft is so important.
Honestly I can see Carroll coaching as long as he wants to. I can actually see him remaining with the team indefinitely unless something happens and he gets fired.

For all of my criticisms of him, the guy at 71 has more energy and optimism than I've ever had at any point in my life.

Unless there is some sort of mental deterioration resulting from age - which I don't see any sign of - I can see him coaching in his mid 70s.

Although I am parroting what PFF has to say about him, he played in a gimmicky offense, he is older, coming off an ACL injury and when he breaks the pocket he seldom throws the ball and just tucks it and runs. Also when you look at where his targeted passes go, it's very heavily outside the lines with not many attempts over the middle.
So old for a rookie, played in a gimmicky offense and has a ACL injury. Sounds like a hard pass to me.

Criminal? Absurd? Being a bit melodramatic. Even those who want to resign Geno want a way out after two years and so far Lock hasn't shown he's capable. Having a top 5 pick is an opportunity to find a franchise rookie QB who would also serve as insurance if Geno's play drops off too much.
If you're signing Geno the FO won't draft a QB in the first round and maybe pass on one all together and keep Lock or sign another back up on the cheap. With the ammo the FO has I'm sure there's be discussions with the Bears to see what it takes to move up cause I'm pretty sure Stroud/Young will be off the board by 1.5 unless someone goes full derp and drafts Levis.

Completely agree. I think he wants one more shot to develop a young QB while getting the defense back on track.

I still say there is a chance the Hawks can Grab McKee in the 3rd. I have seen to many mocks with him going in the 4th or 5th rounds and if not him then I say go after players like O'Connell, Tune then someone like Haener. We don't need to use a first second or third round pick to find someone that should be able to play at this level with a little growth ( a year or 2 ). I don't think this draft has any big star QB's but I think there is quantity in spades for a starter quality QB after a year or two of learning, and it can be had in the 3rd round or later.

McKee is my want QB if he has to start right away and Aidan O'connell if they sit for a year or two because that guy just has that "it" factor but you should try and keep him bellow 30 passes a game. Something this team should do anyway! Our Defense needs to stay off the field or it gets exposed.

I wouldn't be concerned about his age that much. He's a year older than most QBs who played through their senior year. He's 25, not Chris Weinke.

The gimmicky offense looks a lot like the air raid, which air raid QBs have been making the adjustment to the NFL a lot more seemlessly than they used to. There are quite a few concepts that Tennessee was running that the Seahawks ran in their offense this past season. In the end, reports say that he was quick to pick up the new offense when he transferred to Tennessee, so it's not too hard to think he can adjust to a NFL offense.

The ACL is also of minimal concern. He's not gonna be a runner in the NFL, even before the knee. He's 6'4" 218, and I'm not sure I'd be looking at him in the 2nd, unless he shows he's fully recovered from the injury.

I can see a lot to like about Hooker, but I'm more let's bring him in if he falls into the 3rd or fourth round.

Fair enough.

In his defense, he does have the arm talent, size and athleticism to be a good QB. I also think he's a better prospect than any of the QBs in the draft last year. My biggest concern is the scheme he played in.

I was listening to Colin Cowherd earlier today and he had Joe Thomas on and was asked if he thinks it's harder or easier for college prospects to transition to the NFL these days and was surprised he said that it is harder now. He mentioned that these days the complexity of the offenses run at the NFL level is night and day compared to college. Something to consider.

As long as the team has no reason to fire him, I think he'll stick around as long as he wants to. Kind of repeating myself here, but his biggest asset is his ability to motivate people with his energy. Doesn't seem like he has lost any of that or any passion for the game.

Agreed on all points.

I will say I'm not sure if it was just a product of the offense, but per PFF's heat map of targeted passes, he very seldom targeted the middle of the field and was pretty consistently attempting passes outside the numbers.

Even after the ACL injury, I do think he'll still be a threat with his legs. Not the way he was in college, but he definitely has mobility and can make people miss.

Third round would be good value for him. Because as I mentioned in a previous post he has the arm talent and athleticism to be successful, but it's more of a matter of if he can do it at the next level.

Honestly, they really should reconnoiter putting him in the box. He loves the contact plus as a LB he just might be able to cover TE...
If not...One of the worst trades in our history IMO....

The issue with that is he would be hurt week one, he just is not durable for the beating he puts his body through. He is only 6'1" 213 pounds and tries to play like he is 6'3" 230! The other issue is many TE's out class his coverage ability and he is to small for them. Small box safety isn't a good combo.

What will they give us?

I'd be surprised if he went back to the Jets after the initial treatment he got there, but who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if the Jets offered some dumbass 4 year $160M, $100M guaranteed contract either... because it is the Jets.

I really wish Poona fit our defense better. I really like the guy and his game.
He fit the 4-3 just fine and was a productive player.

3-4 was a nail in his coffin

Pete and John throwing out a lot of disinformation regarding that No. 5 draft pick.
