Nah you want the Seahawks to fill as many holes as possible except at QB so they can grab a top ten pick (hopefully) in 2024.

I have as much faith in those guys especially McKee, Tune and O'connell to having success as any of the top 5 guys yet they come at better value.

I also think people are over valuing this QB class just like always. I think maybe 3 or 4 go in the first round maybe 2 in the 2nd. None of these top guys had great seasons an many regressed from the prior season.

Want to bet? Just a friendly "I told you so" wager. I bet those guys don't have any where close to the same success as top 5 QBs will have.

Sure a friendly told you so but I want 2 years. The guys drafted in the 1st will get hella more playing time at first. These other guys will have to earn their playing time. Also i said i have as much faith in them as the front runners that doesn't mean the coaches give them a chance to prove it lol.

this right now reminds me of how they went about it before drafting Wilson in 2012 with a 3rd round pick. T-jack was here they Traded for Flynn and brought in Wilson with a 3rd round pick. I say they keep Lock here bring in a young guy that's a FA and draft a QB in the 3rd or 4th round depending on who is there. To me thats the best option going forward. Need to not tie up a lot of money at QB yet, to much still needs to be built up.

To be clear, we didn't trade for Flynn. We signed him as an FA. And the plan was to have Flynn and Jackson fight it out for the starting QB position. Wilson dropped in their lap in the 3rd round.

I think some of you have convinced yourselves that it better to simply not have a good QB and that you can find someone off the scrap heap to do the job.

The difference is the high rated QBs like Luck were all off the board before Seahawks first pick.

There were two "can't miss" QBs in that draft. And one of them missed. The 3rd QB taken in the draft was Ryan Tannehill.

Want a wager that in 3 years only 1 of the top 3 QBs will be a starting a QB?

Both of them had injuries halt their careers and Tannehill is starting yet today.

Friendly "I told you" wager ? Not counting injury? Sure.

Health is a skill. If you draft a running QB and injury risk increases dramatically. Cam Newton was an absolutely beast. Until the hits caused so many injuries he could no longer perform.

I told you wagers are fine with me. Other types of wagers are dumb.

I don't think but one out of the top 4 or 5 QB's in the 2023 draft will be starting in the NFL and be more than just a average QB.

Statistically that is far more likely than any other result. And, based on past results, you want to take the FIRST guy.

This is pretty much exactly where I stand regarding our QB position going into 2023...

Bumpus: If Seahawks draft a QB, it should be 3rd round or later

While Bumpus thinks the Seahawks should ultimately draft a quarterback, he doesn’t want to see them use one of their premier picks on a new signal-caller.

“I would like to see it in the later rounds – the third round or after that,” he said. “I think with your first two to three picks, you’ve got to address this defense. But Geno’s not gonna be to be the five- or six-year guy at this quarterback spot. He’s the guy to fill a void and keep these guys competitive over the (next few) years. So you need somebody to come in.”

The Seahawks are reportedly very high on Lock, and Bumpus said “I get it” if they want to bring him back for 2023.

“But I really think it’s time to go get a younger guy,” he said. “I don’t want to see it early, especially the first two picks – they’ve got to go heavy on defense – and maybe even that third pick at 37. I think there are other holes with this team that need to be filled. But eventually you do get a quarterback and see if you can strike gold (later in the draft) like they did with (Russell Wilson in 2012).”

Well if your looking for cheap depth at QB drafting one in the third round is sound, but not if you're looking for a starter. List of every 3rd round QB in the 21st century:

The article talked about retaining Geno AND Lock... Drafting a 3rd for depth and development... You wouldn't draft a QB any higher than that if you have Geno and Lock...

If Lock was really cheap ( don't why he won't be) why couldn't you draft a franchise QB prospect in the first and have a 3 way competition, similar to 2012?

That would be an absurd, criminal use of resources.
