RHP Jay Jackson signs minors deal with Blue Jays. Invite to MLB spring camp

The Jays are accumulating Giant alumni.

Becoming a Toronto fan more and more.

Good to see him (likely) retire as a Pirate. I hope we could arrange to do the same for Belt someday.

Me too, like next year after he drops 40 bombs and gets an ASG nod in Toronto. Bring him back to replace Joc.

After Belt finishes 3rd in AL MVP voting in ‘23, I hope the Giants giants him to a 3/100 with a 40m player option for ‘27

Strange move by the A's. Cyr looked good in the 11 games he pitched with them.

I can't help but think that our FO missed the boat a little bit on him. Sure, he's not a superstar, but we had him playing the infield, and the Reds turned him into an OF, and a pretty decent one at that. He has a positive 3.5 dWAR for his career after leaving the Giants, had some good years with the bat (led the league with 113 RBI in 2021 in addition to winning the Gold Glove that year), and now has totaled like $25mm in salary with this latest signing. Not a bad living.

It will be interesting to see how he fares against the Green Monster.

I don’t know why they never thought to put him in the OF. It seemed like a pretty automatic change for him when he got to Cincy.

As for the trade, it ended up being pretty disastrous. Leake was just not a fit with us, so we gave up a power hitting OF (which we sorely needed) and a depth bully arm (Mella was the high-ceiling prospect in that trade) for a couple months of meh. But I can’t really fault the trade given what was known at the time. At the time we gave up a no-glove decent bat 3B and a very young SP prospect (TINSTAAPP) for a #2/#3 SP for a playoff drive.
