Such a strange story. He was a relatively out of nowhere 40 man add and was both young and inexperienced. Yet the Giants move him, essentially, from short A ball to AAA and quickly to the big leagues thereafter. Then they jettison him while still young. Did they know that there was something wrong? I don't know. I think that they would have violated rules on handling injured players if they knew he was injured and dfa'd him with the intent to pass him through waivers.

I hope that he bounces back next year and gets a decent career out of his arm.
I have no idea if they knew he was damaged goods. The Giants tend to pick up the tab on a LOT of players who are damaged, so the track record does not suggest that they would play fast and loose against a players health concerns. Especially for one who was so young and who had looked so good in limited MLB time with the club.

He's been a solid platoon guy since the Giants gave him a chance in 2019. Strangely enough, the only year his OPS+ has been below average in that time frame was last season with the Reds.

Belt may be done this year as well.

He had a decent year. 19 HR and a .853 OPS in 103 games. Primarily from the DH spot, though, so the fact he was only able to get into 103 games while not playing D is not a good sign.

I hope the Giants bring him in as a NRI and give him a send off during the Bay Bridge Series like they did with Romo.

Bailey is the new pitching coach for the Bo Sox and Richardson is the new 1B coach for the Mets.

Kapler and Correa are still out there.

Interesting. Joe Ross pitches in the minors with the Giants while rehabbing from TJ surgery and walks as a minor league free agent, and the Brewers sign him to a big league deal.
