and there goes Trufant to the Lions ... the last available Corner I had any interest in ... I don't understand what we're doing.
The only thing I can think of now is trading for Slay. It would make more sense now that the Lions just signed Trufant.

Someone said that Slay has slipped a bit. If they are counting on drafting 2 stud CB's they may be taking a real risk.

Seems like Roseman is scraping the bottom of the barrel (again).

I'm really hoping this gets done! He's almost 2 years older than Byron Jones, but he's still one of the best man to man Cover guys in the business. I'm worried about what the draft compensation will be though ... unfortunately the Eagles don't have much choice as we lack starter-type talent at Corner and Slay is pretty much it as far as available upgrade options on the border. I think compensation is likely at minimum a 2nd rounder; anything less than that and I would be extremely happy.

Yes, too bad we had to "settle" on Slay because there were free agents we could have gotten. Whatever - I'm not really complaining. Like you, I hope the comp is not too high, if so, I will be pissed. Add to him with a 1st or 2nd round draft pick should get into good shape.

Slay had a down year in 2019 (some injury issues) ... so I'm hoping that drops Detroit's asking price to maybe a 3rd plus a pick. They just acquired Trufant and are likely grabbing Jeff Okudah at pick 3 of the draft ... so that leaves Slay expendable.

Hope you're right. Patricia wanted to get rid of him, so it shouldn't be too high. :hope:

Glad to have Slay! He’ll be motivated and he’s 3 or 4 years younger than Jenkins (who we’ll all miss) in the secondary. Would this move, would you target another corner in the draft then go WR or the other way around.

This is critically important for us since we put CBs on a remote island.

Good move but let’s not forget that this move was precipitated by Howie’s general incompetence at talent evaluation.
Schwartz got his man.

Nice pickup for the Birds, this move works out the same as if we were to sign Jones, but Slay has the better track record. Draft compensation to get him was better than I thought, we didn't have to give up any of our top 2 picks to get him. It's not the be all end all though, we still need a couple of guys in that Secondary mix, including actually drafting a Safety who can play the back end as opposed to continually punting the position every year in the draft.

Word is Todd Gurley may be released today. He'd be a nice 1-2 punch with Sanders. He has knee issues that have taken his elite status away, but still effective in spurts which could make him a perfect guy to split carries with Sanders, and Scott as your #3 change of pace guy. Thoughts?

Sure, he would be a great addition, but I doubt we get him. He wants big bucks, and besides, as the 3rd RB, we need a bull of a RB to push the pile.

Love the promise he still has. Hate the cost he will have, which we should not pay.

RB market has been slow so far. Outside of Howard getting paid by the Dolphins (because that's what they do), he could come at a lower price given the knee issue.
