Can we let the season end before we talk about the suh contract...It's not like anything is going to happen from now until the SB....

If you can talk Russel Wilson, I don't see why e'rybody else can't talk Suh contract. Or Mayhews payroll struggles. :yahoo:

If we don't win in Green Bay, we may have seen Suh in Honalulu Blue for the final time. There're plenty of things we talk about that are less important, to me anyway.

I don't agree with you.

Suh is far more important and productive than Jay Cutler. And he's the highest paid QB in the NFL this year.

You know who was the highest paid Raven when they won their Super Bowl?

I'll guess Ngata, don't know, but doesn't make it right......I like Suh, but the price he's going to command isn't feasible, so I don't see the bother in discussing this issue for 3 plus months. But I guess some of you guys can try and fathom a plausible scenario where it happens.....Count me out on this thread.

Can we all agree there is a serious cap concern?

Are you willing to oust CJ?
Is the organization going to oust Stafford?
Show me where we can remain competitive and retain Suh at more than like 14-15 mill a Year.

They have a HOF QB and coach.

I just checked..Tom Brady and Bill Belichek are not in the hall of fame.

Quin is signed through 2017. Levy is signed until 2016. Tagging Suh in 2015 affects neither.

Ya why wouldn't it? Like it has been said before, the cap is going up and the Lions will see a number of players leave: Bush, Tulloch and Ravioli for example. It will affect those guys, not guys like Quin and Levy who don't need to be resigned. There will be room.

After getting the numbers from my 'cap expert', its basically impossible to tag Suh. Unless we trade/cut Calvin, and even then it'd leave massive cap hits and little wiggle room.

Mayhew fucked this one up good.

Some people are too stubborn to admit it, but you're right TwoCents, it's just not feasible to tag him. Some people may blindly cling to the hope that we do indeed tag him, but anyone who know wtf they're talking about has, at some point in this discussion, come to the conclusion that tagging him is off the table...

I think it's pretty safe to call those two Hall of Famers at this juncture, though...
True, but in 10 years we could be saying the same thing about Stafford and Caldwell. It's just a dumb argument to say the way the Patriots manage the cap and big money players is irrelevent because they had a hall of fame QB and coach, when the way they managed the cap is one of the major reasons those 2 are sure hall of famers.

The good news is about Suh...I think there are really only a few teams that would be willing sign him and break the bank. I think we will be competative in the bidding.

Its clear that Mayhew screwed up the cap to force us into this situation with Suh.

But I'm still waiting for an example of when the Patriots let an AllPro player entering his prime walk for no value.

They tagged a backup QB for $12 mil. Please tell me how $12 mil for a backup QB is different than $27 for an AllPro DT. This whole argument is irrelevant, anyways, because as I said Suh can't possibly be tagged. But if we had the cap room, $27/Suh and $12/backup QB is not very different.

That's what the math majors have been saying. Unfortunate but true.

Further, even Suh isn't worth that much money. If he wants to take less money that we'll give him somewhere else we just have to accept it and move on. Getting emotional and overpaying your stars is now Chicago ended up with Vajayjay Cutler's contract in the first place.
