Bill Bergen for HoF!
Sorry this is so late, I have been running around getting a new house, and slept in this morning.
Positives:
370 - That's the number of yards Dallas' defense allows a games this season, a number that the Seahawks have reached in all but one of their games (288 against San Diego, but they averaged over 7 yards a play that game). Dallas' defense is hobbled as well, so the Seahawks offense has a chance to put up some amazing numbers, if they choose to.
Marshawn Lynch - As a defense, Dallas is allowing nearly 5 yards a carry this season. Seattle's passing attack is low on numbers, high on efficiency and can strike in a heartbeat, while Percy Harvin threatens to break big runs. This makes defenses spread out, giving Marshawn running room, or they get crushed by other means.
Russell Wilson - He is as efficient as anyone in the NFL, and he adds the danger of running the ball. He pulls plays out that no one should be allowed to make, and he does it so easily and so often that it just seems to be part of his skill set.
Negatives:
DeMarco Murray - He's having a great start to the season, and have Cowboy fans as confident in the running game as they have been in what feels like a decade. The line has also been great, which has given him plenty of running lanes. Shutting him down should be a key to the game for the defense, and if they can achieve that they'll find themselves in a good position.
Tony Romo - Too many people put stock into the ESPN narrative of Tony Romo, and act like the guy can't play the position. If the Cowboys can give him a running game that is an actual threat, they can see a guy who has always been efficient, become even more so. The big knock on him is that he tends to wilt under pressure, so the Seahawks will need to pressure him today, and force him into the mental errors he is at times prone to.
Max Unger - Despite winning the Super Bowl last year, Seattle fans can attest to the frustration to having a line that was littered with injuries. The Super Bowl was the best game the line played, and one of only a few good games all season. Keeping the line healthy and playing well is a major key to this season IMO, and having Unger healthy is even more important.
Matchups:
Dez Bryant v. LOB - The legion was put together to go against guys just like Bryant, though Maxwell isn't as big as Browner was, and they've had a lot of success against big bodied WRs. Bryant is Romo's safety valve, just toss it in that direction. It works sometimes, it doesn't others. If the LOB makes the Boys pay for doing that, it'll be a long day for Dallas, but if they let a few go, Dallas can be dangerous.
Murray v. Bobby Wagner - Wagner has been the best player on the Seahawks defense, and he's best at the run game (though he's had some big plays in the passing game). The linebackers are gonna need to step up today in all aspects of the game, and it starts with the man in the middle.
DSP v. Percy Harvin - Harvin gave Seattle good field position last week even without returning a kick, as Washington was so worried about letting him have the ball they kicked it short and still allowed good FP. Carpenter may just try to kick out the back of the end zone today, but if that doesn't happen Harvin can take it to the house in a blink.
Overview -
On paper this is a blowout in Seattle's favor, and sorry D fans that's just how it is. Dallas has been the surprise team of the NFL this season, so they are coming in with some confidence. If Seattle plays well, being at home, this game is easy, but fans all know that that doesn't always happen. Seattle needs to get some turnovers today to help keep the game from being close. Seattle 30 Dallas 21
