Weve had a couple restaurants here defy provincial health orders over the weekend in response to a ban on in restaurant dining in very public maga like fashion.

Not sure what these fuckfaces dont get. You cant wear a mask while eating. That makes exposure risk much higher there. The true essential services being performed in industrial settings are still seeing spread with the tightest attempts at mitigation.

So they see spread happening in these industrial settings and think “see our restaurants should be open!!” Wtf :L
and the penalty was to suspend their business license for as long as the restaurant shut down is on.
basic penalty is to close them down while they are closed down. (i guess curtailing take-out is the true cost)
was hoping for a bit of a stiffer message

i was picking up our easter dinner from Hawksworth on Sunday (lamb wellington, very nice), and there was another anti-mask rally at the art gallery.
1,000 cases a day in BC, deaths on the increase again, and a visible example of it ravaging through top athletes.
like, what the fuck are these idiots trying to accomplish?

there was only about 30 of them, so it's at least nice to see the 'movement' isn't growing.

That “Ricky Fire” from Gusto restaurant is the biggest grifter on the block. I like the way he handled it...

Friday: we are defying this order and will have in person dining ! “We only want to be treated like other industries ... like Costco ... and Walmart”

Saturday: *doors have been locked by city* we will abide by the order and only serve takeout

Sunday: *city pulls business license* so sad :(

/this guy is the biggest joke in the Italian community here. He used to play organ and sing in the our lady of sorrows church choir in east van ... until he demanded payment for his services from the church :noidea:

Just wanted to inform my fellow BC residents that you can register on the new BC COVID-19 site as the first step in booking your vaccination. All they need is your personal health number which is found on the back of your driver's license card (if you have the combined card) and an e-mail address.

This is the e-mail I received (with key info omitted):

<First Name>, thank you for registering.

This is your first of three steps to get immunized against COVID-19.

Your registration confirmation number is: <Registration Number>

Be sure to save this number.

It will make step two, booking your vaccination appointment, quick and easy.

We’ll contact you when it’s your turn to book a vaccination appointment.

To make sure your notification email doesn’t end up in a spam folder, add us to your address book.

Best I can tell Corduroy Restaurant and Corduroy Pie Company are two completely unrelated restaurants and thank god for that because Corduroy Pie Co has the best pizza in Vancouver that I’ve tried thus far.

Almost all of these that have been administered are two shot vaccines and those that haven’t been administered are either being held for the second doses or literally just arrived yesterday (Ontario received almost a million doses yesterday alone). The federal minister of health is playing politics here trying to push the slow rollout onto premiers and it’s working because basically everybody is blaming the provinces and not Trudeau.

Plenty of blame to go around regarding the vaccine rollout (and yes Trudeau should own his fair share), but Ford was slow to react to what is going on in Ontario and things are getting really bad.

He's been dumb about 1000x since this started. They should've kept the 2nd lockdown they started in Jan/Feb going until they were back in double-digit case numbers and vaccinations were sufficient enough to basically eliminate the death rate. No reason not to, especially with the variants entering the country.

what a clusterfuck

They literally did no work on rollout systems last year. They only started this once they realized the vaccine was here.

Can't they just use the Emergency Messaging System to send a link with information on who's eligible at what time in what areas? That way anybody who wants it and is eligible gets the right information.

Michigan is also on fire as far as COVID-19 is concerned. I heard that the White House is seriously considering sending vaccine doses to hotspots in Michigan, Canada needs to do the same for Ontario (and more importantly, get those doses into arms).

BC was at 1300 yesterday, adjusted for population that's about the same pace as Ontario. Alberta's up there. Quebec is creeping back up.

The entire country is a hotspot at this point. ICU's are packed. The provinces are clearly failing at this and the only message from the federal government is dumb commercials saying to wear your mask correctly with a cheery overtone. The feds pass the buck to the provinces who pass the buck to local health authorities who in the most populated regions are already overwhelmed. Something has to be done here.
